Your role at a glance

The Senior Network and Security Engineer is a highly experienced Network Security Engineering role with deep expertise in enterprise network and firewall technologies, network security architecture, cloud networking, and security operations. This role demands to be skilled in leading complex network transformation initiatives, implementing Zero Trust and segmentation strategies, managing next-generation firewalls, and ensuring the resilience, performance, and security of global network infrastructures across on-premises, cloud, and data centre environments.

What we are looking for

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Leads the design and implementation of intricate network solutions, including LAN, WAN, data centre, and cloud networks
Develops scalable and resilient network architectures aligned with business goals
Configures and manages advanced network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers
Implements and optimises network protocols, services, and features
Develops and enforces comprehensive network security strategies, including firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems, access controls, and encryption mechanisms
Performs security audits and vulnerability assessments
Utilises advanced troubleshooting techniques and network monitoring tools to diagnose and resolve complex network issues
Optimises network performance by analysing traffic patterns and applying QoS measures
Manage network-related projects, from planning to execution
Defines project objectives, develop project plans, allocate resources, and ensure successful project completion
Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, security experts, application developers, and business stakeholders
Communicates complex technical information clearly to various audiences
Shares expertise, best practices, and industry insights to foster professional growth within the team
Stays updated with emerging networking technologies, industry trends, and best practices
Evaluates and recommends new tools, technologies, and solutions to enhance the organisation's network capabilities
Manages relationships with network equipment vendors, service providers, and consultants
Evaluates vendor offerings, negotiate contracts, and ensures compliance with service level agreements
Develops and maintains comprehensive network documentation, including high-level network diagrams, detailed configurations, standard operating procedures, and incident response plans
Estimates network capacity requirements and plans for scalability to accommodate business growth and evolving needs
Ensures network configurations and practices comply with industry standards, regulations, and security policies
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Expert-level understanding of networking concepts, protocols, architectures, and services
Proficiency in configuring and managing complex network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers
In-depth knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and advanced security protocols
Strong hands-on experience with network monitoring and analysis tools
Excellent documentation and communication skills to convey technical information effectively
Proficient in network administration and configuration tools
Proven experience leading and managing network projects
Advanced problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues
Leadership abilities and a track record of mentorship
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Relevant cloud provider Network Administration certification (Azure, Google, Amazon)
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) are beneficial
Industry-recognized certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), or equivalent certifications are required
Required Experience:
Advanced progressive experience in network engineering, including roles of increasing responsibility.
Advanced experience working in a networking environment
Advanced experience with network security
Advanced WAN and LAN experience
Advanced experience in wireless equipment, protocols, standards, and wireless LAN design
Advanced cloud networking experience (AWS, Azure, etc.)
