Lead innovation and product strategy across the UPI ecosystem, defining roadmaps, AI-enabled discovery, experimentation, API-first platform evolution, and adoption goals. Partner with engineering teams and ecosystem participants to deliver scalable, reliable payment capabilities. Establish governance, launch readiness, monitoring, and continuous improvement frameworks while influencing executives, industry stakeholders, and product leaders. The role requires deep expertise in digital payments, platform products, distributed systems, AI/ML applications, analytics, and high-scale mission-critical environments.
NPCI is seeking a senior product leader to drive innovation,
AI-enabled product acceleration, and next-generation platform capabilities
across the UPI ecosystem. The role will define and execute UPI's innovation, roadmap, leveraging AI, product discovery, ecosystem experimentation, and
platform evolution to address emerging payment needs, enhance user experiences,
and enable future-scale growth.
The incumbent will partner with engineering, ecosystem
participants, business stakeholders, and industry leaders to deliver scalable,
intelligent, and future-ready products. Success in this role requires strong
product leadership, deep technology and platform expertise, AI-first product
thinking, ecosystem understanding, execution excellence, platform governance,
adoption strategy, and executive stakeholder management.
Product Innovation Strategy & Roadmap
- Drive
the UPI innovation roadmap, defining future capabilities, platform
evolution, adoption goals, and success metrics.
- Identify
opportunities across payments, digital commerce, scalability, and emerging
technologies to shape future-ready solutions.
Product Discovery, AI Innovation & Experimentation
- Lead
ecosystem-wide product discovery, AI-enabled innovation, and rapid
experimentation with banks, PSPs, TPAPs, merchants, and fintechs.
- Translate
insights into scalable product requirements, roadmaps, and execution
plans.
Platform Strategy & Engineering Partnership
- Define
API-first platform strategies focused on scalability, interoperability,
extensibility, and seamless ecosystem adoption.
- Partner
with engineering teams to deliver high-performing, resilient, and scalable
platform capabilities while improving key metrics such as ASR, latency,
and throughput.
Product Governance & Execution
- Establish
strong PDLC governance, launch readiness, telemetry, and continuous
improvement frameworks.
- Drive
disciplined execution from concept through launch and optimization.
Leadership & Ecosystem Influence
- Represent
UPI innovation and AI-led product strategy across executive forums and
industry engagements.
- Influence
ecosystem direction, mentor product leaders, and foster a culture of
innovation, experimentation, and product excellence.
Requirements
Required Technical Skills
- Expertise in digital payments, UPI ecosystem, API-first platforms, and interoperability.
- Strong product management, platform strategy, innovation, and ecosystem-led product leadership.
- Understanding of distributed systems, transaction processing, scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
- Experience with product analytics, experimentation, platform monitoring, and release governance.
- Use Generative AI to accelerate product discovery, requirements, specifications, risk analysis, and decision-making.
- Apply AI/ML-driven prioritization using adoption, performance, ecosystem complexity, and business impact.
- Leverage AI-powered operational intelligence for issue detection, trend analysis, and platform performance insights.
- Drive faster innovation through AI-enabled prototyping, experimentation, and validation.
- 15+ years in product management, platform leadership, payments, fintech, or digital ecosystems.
- Proven success leading large-scale platform products, API-driven initiatives, and ecosystem innovation programs.
- Strong expertise in product discovery, roadmap strategy, execution, and stakeholder management.
- Experience in high-scale, mission-critical environments, preferably payments, banking, fintech, or national digital infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor product leaders, build organizational capability, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, data-driven decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
