Senior Backup Administrator responsible for design, deployment, monitoring, tuning, and incident resolution of backup and storage systems across cloud (GCP/Azure/AWS) and tape/VTL infrastructures. Troubleshoots complex issues, manages licensing, automation/scripting, documents procedures, reports performance, and acts as escalation point while improving backup processes and service levels.
Basic Qualifications:
6+ years of relevant work experience with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in private and public cloud like GCP /Azure and AWS
- Working knowledge on tape-based backup software such as NetBackup, CommVault, HP DP and Hardware (physical and disk-based Virtual Tape Library (VTL) libraries)
- Good understanding on network and SAN concepts used for backup solution design and configuration.
- Develop and exhibit technical subject matter expertise on the assigned backup and storage systems along with associated processes and procedures
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide solutions.
- Be an escalation point for all backup issues and work independently with the minimal intervention.
- Design, innovate, deploy and follow solutions/procedures to improve working process
- Implementing changes in the backup environment or create and implement service improvements
- Good understanding of heterogeneous multi technology environments, interoperability issues
- Ensure regular reporting to management regarding performance and service levels of Backup systems, to inform responsible management about major deviations and/or corrective actions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written form of emails, ticket comments, and verbally.
- Perform daily monitoring and management of the backup environment
- Perform problem management and incident correlation on recurring issues
- Create and update documentation for backup environments
- Performance tuning.
16. Handling licensing part.
17. Advanced knowledge of OS, database, and volume management.
18. Shell scripting, automation, and tool implementations.
19. Any technology-related industry standard certification for L3 skills.
20. Storage and various OS-level interdependency issues administration skillset are required (Linux, Windows, and UNIX).

- Work independently with little supervision on day-to-day tasks, receiving general instructions on new assignments
- Ability to handle multi-tasking, prioritization and meet deadline with a flexible outlook and attitude
- Experience with enterprise level tool sets related to monitoring
- End-user and crisis management
- Ability to conduct trainings, address meetings, vendor reviews
- Knowledge of Backup hardware Knowledge with HP StoreOnce (D2D, B6200), HP StoreEver (MSL, ESL), HP VLS 9000 Series, EMC DataDomain, IBM Tape Systems, Veritas NetBackup Appliances
- Excellent team player.
