Support trading desk by monitoring markets, tracking orders and positions, reconciling trades, preparing reports and MIS, conducting basic securities research, coordinating with brokers and internal teams, identifying risks, and contributing to process improvements and automation.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Monitor equity, derivatives, futures, and options markets, including price movements, volumes, trends, and market developments.
- Assist in tracking and documenting buy and sell orders, executed trades, open positions, and transaction details.
- Support pre-trade and post-trade activities, including order verification, trade confirmation, and record maintenance.
- Maintain accurate databases, trade logs, market trackers, watchlists, and investment-related documentation.
- Track intraday and end-of-day positions, exposure, margins, profit and loss, and other relevant trading metrics.
- Conduct basic research and analysis of securities, investment products, sectors, and market conditions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly trading reports, MIS, dashboards, and performance summaries.
- Assist with reconciliation of trades, contract notes, brokerage charges, cash balances, and internal records.
- Coordinate with brokers, operations, finance, risk, and other internal stakeholders to resolve trade-related discrepancies.
- Monitor derivatives expiry dates, rollover requirements, margin obligations, and other position-related activities.
- Support the preparation of investment proposals, analytical reports, and client-specific financial information when required.
- Assist in identifying market risks, portfolio gaps, and unusual movements and escalate them to the relevant manager.
- Ensure the confidentiality and secure handling of trading strategies, client information, and market-sensitive data.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation of recurring reports and trading activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field would be an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in trading support, investment operations, equity research, broking, dealing, or a related area.
- Candidates with less experience may be considered for the position of Junior Trading Assistant.
- Sound understanding of equity markets, derivatives, futures, options, investment products, and basic risk-management concepts.
- Active interest or practical exposure to equity derivatives and options trading would be preferred.
- Experience in preparing investment proposals, conducting financial-product analysis, or evaluating client financial profiles would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data analysis, and report preparation.
- Familiarity with trading terminals, market-data platforms, order-management systems, or portfolio-management systems would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of mutual funds, ELSS, NPS, insurance products, tax-saving instruments, and basic financial planning would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time-sensitive conditions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a trading or investment team.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, proactive, and willing to learn.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
- NISM, NSE Academy, CFA, or other relevant capital-markets certification would be an advantage.
