Sr Java Developer

As a member of NDS team, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into how we capture the real world, how this is reflected in our reality index, and work with the team on how this data goes straight into cars with our NDS deliveries. We work with Agile practices and cooperate with numerous different teams inside and outside of the company. Our team delivers digital maps in NDS formats to our automotive customers where the data is going straight into cars to power autonomous driving use cases.

You will be working on all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, release and support.

• Own one or more components of software architecture in the immediate environment
• Assist in developing components for map processing and validation workflows
• Analyze and debug pipeline issues using logs and visualization tools
• Support the team in documentation, testing, and internal demos
• Be part of an agile team, share knowledge, do code reviews, pro-active communication
• Drive and improve engineering best practices (e.g. agile, coding, verification)

You are a fast learner and are comfortable working with little direction. You take initiative and bring up ideas. In addition you have the following:

• 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in a software development role with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Application development experience - Java/Scala
• Exposure to AWS, Big Data tools (Spark, EMR)
• Experience in one of the databases and writing efficient SQL queries
• Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, and basic Linux commands
• Strong with logical & problem solving - Data Structures, Algorithms
• Solid knowledge of programming practices, strive to write great code that is reusable, flexible, and reliable.
• Self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, and a strong team player with an agile mindset
• A strong quality mindset is considered a must: writing testable code
• Has very good communication and analytical skills and can quickly understand complex scenarios.

In this role you will be part of out HERE NDS (Navigation Database Standard) Technologies team which is working on our map compilation product that creates the most comprehensive high-definition live map in the market, intended to support precise navigation for self-driving cars.
