Job Title: Senior Software Engineer SAP ABAP

Location: Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore (Hybrid)

Business & Team: We are seeking experienced SAP ABAP engineers to join our squad to support and optimize SAP solutions that underpin critical banking operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of SAP Core Banking system. With close to 40% of Australia’s payments processed in this system, your impact here has significant impact and importance.

Impact & contribution: As SAP Banking Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for guiding the designs within your SAP domain to align to the SAP Application Architecture. Specifically, as a Technical Consultant, you are responsible for identifying Build Inventory Items, designing and configuring Technicality and testing the Technicality to ensure business requirements are met. You would also be expected to build intimate relationships with the business to ensure we are delivering what the business wants and needs.

The Technical Consultant is required to:

• Provide L2 operational support and manage platform stability for SAP applications across production and non-production environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues through effective debugging and root cause analysis.
• Monitor system performance, proactively identify issues, and coordinate timely incident detection and resolution.
• Develop, enhance, and support SAP RICEFs in line with business requirements.
• Lead and manage service restoration activities for incidents across all severity levels, ensuring adherence to defined SLAs efficiently and minimise customer impact.
• Perform root cause analysis and drive resolution of recurring operational issues.
• Partner with infrastructure, platform, and security teams to maintain system availability, resilience, and performance.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including enhanced observability and operational automation.
• Identify and implement tools and solutions that improve operational efficiency and increase self-service capabilities for product teams.
• Leverage AI and automation capabilities to improve incident analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution processes.
• Participate in on-call support and major incident activities as required.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Communicate with product and business teams to gather and analyse business requirements, translate it into technical design and prepare technical specification documents.
• Debug complex problems and provide excellent customer service by delivering superior code quality to specifications.
• Work closely with stakeholders and change management to identify impacts of system or application changes to business processes.
• Adherence to standardised development (Coding, testing, documentation).
• Participate in Agile events, internal team and status meetings, in project planning sessions with team members to analyse development requirements, provide design options, breakdown and estimates of work.
• Work on complex and distributed SAP landscapes.
• Provide support and participate in testing activities ensuring adequate automation coverage.
• Being bound to internal SAP release guidelines.
• Mentors and up-skills other engineering teams across different crews.
• Manage conflicts, issues and risks to optimize the solution and ensure alignment to scope.
• Continually learning modern technology best practices and bring them back to the group. Essential skills:

• 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and support.
• Expertise in problem solving, debugging, and root cause analysis, with exposure to SAP Banking Services and Transactional Banking (TRBK) highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes within large enterprises or highly regulated industries such as Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Government.
• Knowledge of ITIL Service Management practices and operational support frameworks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills with the ability to resolve complex production issues.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in high-availability, mission-critical environments supporting business-critical applications.
• Ability to work effectively during major incidents and contribute to service restoration activities within defined SLAs.
• Exposure to operational support, monitoring, observability, and automation practices in enterprise environments.

Qualification: Bachelor's / master’s degree in engineering/ information systems from an accredited university.
