The Senior Manager, Service Transition is a senior management role, responsible for taking full accountability for the transition of complex services by the transition teams under their leadership.
Engagement within this role ranges from input to selling activities and service design, through the transition project until the conclusion of early life support.
The Senior Manager, Service Transition fosters a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on operational excellence.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns the transition process, develops the organization's approach and defines the acceptance criteria for service transition.
  • Acts as the point of escalation for transition projects and will take responsibility for resolving or owning the resolution of all escalated issues.
  • Remains current in developments in the transition management arena and maintains their expertise on transition management approach and methodology.
  • Manages risk and minimize potential failure by planning and ensuring the execution of all testing, training and change management activities.
  • Contributes to the Pre-Sales process by partnering with the internal stakeholders to understand the client’s requirements and to plan and design the required transition process.
  • Establishes positive relationships with the stakeholders and engage with them on a regular basis.
  • Identifies resource requirements for the transition project and negotiate and agree the use of the resources.
  • Compiles process definition and the requirement specifications for toolsets and resources required to deliver the service.
  • Ensures that the environment is prepared, configured and equipped to operate and support the client service according to agreed Service Level Agreements.
  • Performs as a people manager to the cross functional transition team, developing team members to grow in their roles.
  • Fosters a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on operational excellence.

Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Significant knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and standards (both Waterfall and Agile)
  • Significant business and commercial acumen coupled with strategic thinking ability
  • Ability to develop and enhance client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Significant understanding of IT industry and expertise on transition management approaches and methodologies.
  • Ability to construct plans and schedules with pricing information within a framework.
  • Ability to interpret, deconstruct and contribute to contract collateral.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Information Technology or a related field.
  • Relevant ITIL certification preferred.
  • PMBOK and/or Prince II Certification(s) desirable.

Required Experience:

  • Extended experience in Service Transitioning and Project management preferably gained within a global IT services organization.
  • Extended experience in engagement across contractual review and service definition.
  • Extended track record in managing complex client transition projects, preferably within a large enterprise environment.
  • Extended demonstrable experience in communication and negotiation at senior management level.
  • Extended demonstrable expertise in transition management approach and methodology.
