Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- QA Expert Execution - Deliver independent, risk‑based QA and quality checking across Screening (Sanctions, PEP, Adverse Media), Onboarding/KYC, due diligence reviews, Client outreach, customer risk assessments, transaction monitoring, covering both in‑house 1LoD teams and Third‑Party (TPAs). Apply SME judgment including complex client structures and high‑risk cases, and oversee end‑to‑end execution of the FCC QA framework.
- Thematic Reviews & Control Effectiveness - Conduct horizontal/thematic reviews to identify recurring errors, control gaps, interpretation issues, and operational risks. Perform root‑cause analysis, validate defect grading, assess 1LoD control effectiveness, and ensure remediation is tracked to closure within SLAs.
- Regulatory & Policy Alignment - Design and maintain QA methodologies, sampling approaches, and control testing frameworks across Asset Management 1LoD and TPAs, ensuring alignment with Group GRC, Financial Crime standards, internal policies, and regulatory expectations (e.g., FCA, CSSF). Act as an SME supporting audit readiness and internal/external audits with an objective of nil material findings.
- MI, Reporting & Governance - Produce and present high‑quality QA MI covering error rates, severity, trends, themes, and emerging risks. Develop senior‑level reporting packs, contribute to governance forums.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Credible Challenge - Partner with Financial Crime leadership, 1LoD operations, Compliance, Audit, and TPAs to provide credible challenge, escalate material control issues, and strengthen the overall control environment.
- Continuous Improvement & Capability Building - Drive improvements in assurance methodologies, standardization, and transformation initiatives. Support efficiency initiatives/changes (automation and AI‑enabled), contribute to framework enhancement, procedure manuals and training enhancements, and coach QA specialists/1 LoD Financial crime operations to strengthen FCC capability across in‑house and TPA teams.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proven experience in AML, KYC, Client, distributor onboarding, due diligence, PR activities within Asset Management or Asset Servicing / Financial Services space. (Essential)
- In-depth experience in onboarding complex entities (funds, trusts, SPVs, etc.), assessing AML risk exposure in complex ownership structures in line with regulatory standards. (Essential)
- SME‑level knowledge of sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening; due diligence reviews; and transaction monitoring activities. (Essential)
- Demonstrated Quality Assurance / Quality Checking experience, delivering consistently high‑quality, accurate outcomes. (Essential)
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset with attention to detail; assess risk, review and interpret regulation; apply constructive challenge and deliver balanced, credible feedback. (Essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage stakeholders, and drive initiatives across levels. (Essential)
- High ownership, accountability and time‑management capability in a fast‑paced, multi‑priority environment. (Essential)
- Understanding of Asset Management products, lifecycle, and structures (e.g., Funds, UCITS, AIFs, distributors, private/public markets, segregated mandates). (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of AML/KYC and screening platforms (e.g., Actimize, World‑Check, LexisNexis, Fenergo, AWD, Orbis). (Preferred)
- Ability to demonstrate capability in MI, reporting and dashboards (Excel, PowerPoint essential; Power BI an advantage). (Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 9–12 years’ experience in Financial Crime Operations or Compliance, including 6+ years in Quality Checking, Control / Quality Assurance within Asset Management, Asset Servicing, or Financial Services.
- Strong working knowledge of UK, EU regulations, with practical application experience within KYC/AML spectrum.
- Experience within assurance planning and execution, including sampling methodologies/testing, root-cause, issue identification in Financial crime operations.
- Good understanding of the regulated financial services landscape and how businesses such as M&G operate within it.
- Able to operate independently within own function while maintaining awareness of broader organisational objectives.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, resilient, with the ability to work effectively under pressure, effective time management.
- Exposure to Third party (TPA) QA/governance frameworks (Preferred)
Educational Qualification:
- Graduate degree in Science, Commerce, Management, Business Administration, or Law (e.g. BSc, BCom, BMS, BBA, LLB).
- Professional certifications such as ICA qualifications or CAMS are desirable.
