Overall Job Purpose

Individual would be part of the Methodology & Assumption (M&A) Actuarial Policyholder Data Team within the Actuarial Modelling & Valuation Centre of Excellence in Finance.

A new solution for the validation and transformation of policyholder data used in actuarial modelling and assumption setting is being built.

The role plays an active part in the validation and transformation of policyholder data for actuarial modelling and assumption setting,  pro-actively solving problems and communicating clearly with stakeholders in the team. It operates with a strong sense of accountability while collaborating effectively with colleagues to maintain consistent standards and continuous improvement.

This role contributes to developing and documenting actuarial requirements for the data transformation and validation once these are in BAU.

This role contributes to delivering high-quality actuarial insight that supports confident decision-making and long-term value creation.

As an analyst the person will be required to work under the direction of senior team members, providing high quality deliverables to agreed standards and within agreed timelines.

Individual is accountable and responsible for the Model Points Data Production and Experience Analysis related tasks as assigned by the Team Manager. The person would act as necessary support to the team by carrying the tasks for the process with an acceptable standard of quality and within agreed timelines.

Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)

  • Deliver the specification of data transformation and validation logic to ensure that the data used in actuarial modelling, experience analysis and assumption setting is materially correct and fit for purpose.
  • Use actuarial knowledge and judgement to propose simplifications to data processing or to propose accepting limitations in data based on materiality.
  • Produce clear and accurate documentation to support transparency and review processes.
  • Review data inputs and outputs to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency with the transformation and model specifications.
  • Implement controls and remediation actions to improve data accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain process documentation, data dictionaries, and operational procedures
  • Ensure all enhancements are appropriately documented and meet business requirements before implementation

  • Support the interpretation of actuarial results, presenting findings in a clear and structured way to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with wider teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery of shared objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, or methodologies, contributing to ongoing efficiency.
  • Ability to deliver on multiple tasks to demanding timescales
  • To support team members in a range of project work as and when required
  • Deliver high-quality outputs with strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agreed standards

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

  • Confidence & communicate effectively with others, develop positive networks and working relationships
  • Desire to develop a strong technical coding ability (SQL, Python)
  • Document and communicate technical concepts in a way that is clear and concise
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues and solve problems
  • Statistical and numerical reasoning
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience using Excel, Power BI, and/or Python to analyse data, automate checks, and produce reports or dashboards.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, Power Query, and reconciliation techniques
  • Experience maintaining documentation, controls, and governance evidence to support auditability and operational resilience

Knowledge & Skills (Additional) :

  • Experience with data tools such as SQL, Python and Databricks
  • Knowledge of the business and/ or Solvency II and/ or IFRS financial reporting experience would be an advantage, however on-the-job training will be provided to successful candidate.
  • Strong self-checking of individual work

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant Actuarial experience
  • Past experience of working on experience analysis or monitoring is an added advantage

Educational Qualification:

  • A student member of Institute of Faculty of Actuaries and/or Indian Institute of Actuaries with at least 3-4 exams
  • Actively studying for and making satisfactory progress with the Institute/ Faculty exams as defined in the Mumbai Actuarial Study support Policy
