Job Purpose:  

Position Summary

The Manager, Regulatory Compliance APJ is responsible for leading and supporting export compliance activities across the Asia Pacific region with India being a key focus market. This role will be based in India and ideally in Mumbai and will provides day-to-day guidance on export control matters, manages compliance escalations, implements trade compliance programs, and ensures adherence to applicable export regulations and internal policies.

The position serves as a key business partner to Sales, Operations, Logistics, Customs Brokers, and other stakeholders, while also supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, audits, training programs, and government inquiries. A strong understanding of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), India export controls, and regional export control regulations, requirements and processes is essential.

This role requires an in-office presence of at least three days per week.

Responsibilities:

Export Compliance Operations

  • Manage and resolve daily export control escalations raised by Sales, Sales Operations, Logistics, Customs Brokers, and other business stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on export licensing, classification, screening requirements, and regulatory obligations across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Support business transactions by evaluating export control and trade compliance risks and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.

Compliance Program Management

  • Implement and maintain the company's global export compliance program across multiple countries within the APJ region.
  • Champion compliance with applicable export control laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Monitor and assess regulatory developments and support implementation of compliance requirements to meet evolving regulatory developments.

Training and Awareness

  • Aid in design and deliver of training programs for Co-workers and stakeholders on trade compliance topics
  • Promote a culture of compliance through ongoing education and stakeholder engagement.

Audits and Risk Management

  • Conduct compliance assessments, self-audits, and operational reviews to identify areas of risk and improvement.
  • Develop and monitor corrective action plans to address identified compliance gaps.
  • Support internal audits, external assessments, and government-led compliance reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 8 to 10 Years of relevant work experience.

  • 3 to 5 Years of experience directly managing / supervising employees.

  • Bachelor's Degree with Export Controls field of study required.

  • Other Education / Certifications: Economics/Business Management Degree

  • Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.

  • Possesses strong data entry skills.

  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Able to communicate clearly and convey necessary information.

  • Able to converse and write effectively in English.

  • Able to create and conduct formal presentations.

  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of management.

  • Able to negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.

  • Possesses strong multi-cultural interpersonal skills.

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Able to use relevant computer system applications at an advanced level.
