Job Summary
Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and motivated L2 Network Implementation Engineer to join our Network Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting critical network infrastructure across enterprise and Data Center environments.
You will join a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to maintaining high-performance connectivity, seamless network migrations, and robust security frameworks to keep our global operations running efficiently.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Implement and Migrate Network Infrastructure: Deploy, configure, and onboard core Layer 2 and Layer 3 network devices—including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers—while executing smooth network migrations and validating performance via health checks and bandwidth testing.
Collaborate Across Ecosystems: Coordinate directly with the Network Operations Center (NOC), Service Desk, Layer 2/Layer 3 support teams, field engineers, clients, and leading telecommunications vendors or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Cisco and Fortinet to provision circuits and resolve escalated implementation issues.
Ensure Security Compliance and Governance: Adhere strictly to organizational change management and implementation procedures while performing basic network security audits, analyzing system logs, and maintaining meticulous implementation documentation and network diagrams.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven Experience in Network Deployment: A solid background of experience working directly within Data Center operations, network implementation, and complex infrastructure migration activities.
Strong Knowledge of Core Networking and Security: Deep technical expertise in Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, Routing Protocols (Border Gateway Protocol [BGP], Open Shortest Path First [OSPF]), Switching (Virtual Local Area Networks [VLANs], Spanning Tree Protocol [STP]), and Wide Area Network (WAN)/Virtual Private Network (VPN) setups.
Proven Ability in Cross-Functional Troubleshooting: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex network environments, manage vendor relationships, and monitor performance using tools like PRTG or OP Manager.
Industry Certifications: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, backed by highly valued certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Certifications.
