We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Modern Trade professional with 5–19 years of experience to manage and grow business across modern retail channels. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in modern trade sales, key account management, retail operations, trade marketing, and revenue growth.

This role will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with modern trade accounts, driving sales and distribution, improving product visibility, executing promotional plans, and achieving business targets. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the evolving retail landscape and the ability to build sustainable partnerships with large-format retailers, supermarket chains, hypermarkets, and other organized retail platforms.


RequirementsKey Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute Modern Trade sales strategies aligned with overall business objectives and revenue targets.
  • Manage relationships with key modern trade accounts and retail chains, ensuring strong partnerships and consistent business growth.
  • Drive sales, distribution, product availability, and visibility across assigned modern trade outlets.
  • Develop annual and periodic business plans for key accounts, including sales targets, assortment, promotions, and visibility initiatives.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, margins, promotional investments, listings, and business agreements with modern trade partners.
  • Monitor primary and secondary sales, inventory levels, sell-through, and market performance to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Plan and execute trade promotions, in-store activations, product launches, displays, and merchandising initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Category Management to ensure smooth execution.
  • Analyze account-level sales data and market trends to develop actionable business strategies.
  • Ensure optimum product availability and minimize stock-outs, excess inventory, and expiry-related losses.
  • Track competitor activities, pricing, promotions, assortment, and visibility across modern retail channels.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, performance reports, account reviews, and business updates for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for new account acquisition, geographic expansion, range enhancement, and revenue growth.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, commercial agreements, pricing guidelines, and trade budgets.
Must-Have Skills
  • Strong expertise in Modern Trade sales and business development.
  • 5–19 years of relevant experience in modern trade, key account management, retail sales, or organized retail.
  • Proven experience managing large retail chains and modern trade accounts.
  • Strong understanding of modern retail formats, trade margins, promotions, negotiations, and commercial structures.
  • Excellent account management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities with experience interpreting sales and market data.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve sales, revenue, distribution, and profitability targets.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic account plans and translate them into measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of retail execution, merchandising, visibility, inventory management, and promotional effectiveness.
Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related discipline is preferred. An MBA in Sales or Marketing will be an added advantage.

The ideal candidate should be commercially oriented, highly proactive, and comfortable working in a target-driven environment. Strong ownership, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage multiple key accounts will be essential for success in this role.
