This role is for an Lead Business Data Analyst – Investment Data Platform.
The Lead Business Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision-making within the Asset Management domain. This individual will leverage deep expertise in investment data domains, including share classes, asset types, funds, positions, instruments, and regulatory frameworks, to deliver high-quality data solutions for Public & Private Markets, Client Experience & Distribution, Regulatory & Sustainability, Risk & Performance, etc. The role involves leading data discovery, help support & shape business requirements, stakeholder engagement, and advanced data analysis to support the development and enhancement of the Investment Data Platform solutions.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities

- Working with business stakeholders, project teams and software delivery teams to establish data requirements as part of technology solutions that provide a business outcome.
- Supporting the development of Asset Management data capabilities by contributing to the design and delivery of data sets that are approached with a “capability first” mindset and align with Data Governance policy.
- Assessing potential data risks, opportunities and business impact.
- Understanding the overall data strategy and how it should be applied in solution design.
- Building strong working relationships with business functions to ensure timely delivery of data that meet the requirements.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Data Discovery & Analysis, conduct in-depth analysis of investment data domains, attributes, and entities (e.g., share classes, asset types, funds, positions, instruments, regulatory data). Perform data profiling, lineage analysis, and identify gaps or inconsistencies in data sources.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, investment teams, and technology partners to capture and translate business requirements into detailed data requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor for data-related decisions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to design and deliver scalable, robust, and extensible data solutions/products. Define and streamline business processes for data sourcing, transformation, and quality assurance.
- Ensure adherence to Data Governance principles and contribute to the implementation of data ownership and stewardship models. Drive initiatives to improve data cataloging, quality, consistency, and usability across the platform.
- Produce comprehensive business and data requirement documentation, including acceptance criteria and test scenarios. Support Agile delivery practices, including user stories, backlog refinement, and sprint planning.
- Use Advanced Data Analysis tooling, Data Modelling, Data practises to extract all relevant information about data for solving business requests/requirements in the form of Data Products, through Business, Data and Technical Analysis best practises.
- Accountable for delivering significant portion of the Investment Data Platform capabilities, develop business processes and documentation.
- Manages conflicts that may impact delivery. Manages risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience.
- Delivers a significant portion of the Investment Data Quality, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise.

Knowledge & Skills (Key):
- Able to write complex SQL scripting for Data Analysis, Data Profiling and Data Validation. Strong understanding of Investment Data: Transactions, Positions, Instrument Terms & Conditions, Trade Lifecycle, and Regulatory requirements.
- Excellent understanding of the Trade Lifecycle and Financial instruments (Transactions, Positions, Instrument T&Cs, etc.)
- Good exposure and knowledge of the Investments business including Private Markets, ESG Sustainability, Risk & Performance, Investments Operations, Equities, Multi-Asset and Sustainability, Public Fixed Income.
- Good exposure and knowledge of Agile software/data delivery practices. Including, effective utilisation of Stories, Acceptance Criteria and Testing.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and orally, within a project team or with stakeholders across levels.
- Excellent attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and work efficiently to project deadlines.
- Ability to identify problems and have the drive to follow them through to resolution.
- Excellent understanding of Investment data sources, data definitions and data transformation.
- Good understanding of Data Governance principles.
Knowledge & Skills (Desirable):
- Experience in embedding data management, quality, governance processes using relevant tooling.
- Experience in data visualisation using tools such as Power BI
- Experience in data transformation programmes.
Experience:
- 10+ years of total experience with 8+ years of experience as Business Data analyst in the Asset Management, Investments domain/industry.
- Experience on Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Technical Analysis.
- Proven track record in data discovery, data modeling, and data governance initiatives.
- Extreme hands on with data definitions and data transformation.
- Exposure to regulatory reporting requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Exposure to the cloud data tools.
- Experience in writing complex query SQL scripts.
- Experience with data quality tools.
Educational Qualification:
- Graduate in any discipline.
