Job Title: L2 Technical IT Engineer – Azure Infrastructure Specialist
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive L2 Azure Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our Cloud Platform Support Team. This role involves providing 24×7 technical support in a rotating shift model for offshore customers, focusing on Azure-related infrastructure issues. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Azure services, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to guide L1 engineers while engaging in technical discussions with customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Act as the main escalation point for Azure infrastructure issues, ensuring fast and effective resolution
· Collaborate with customer engineering teams to provide best practices and improve deployment reliability and cost efficiency.
· Write and modify basic Terraform scripts to support infrastructure automation.
· Work closely with Lead Engineers, Delivery Leads, and offshore support teams in a matrixed environment to ensure seamless service delivery.
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to L1 support engineers.
· Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
· Provide detailed incident and root-cause analysis reports for Azure infrastructure issues.
Technical Expertise
· Azure Cloud Services
· Compute: VMs, VM Scale Sets, Availability Sets, Host Groups, Container Apps, Container Registries
· Networking: VWAN, Application Gateway, Front Door, Load Balancer, Firewall, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, NSGs, VNets, DNS Zones, Private Endpoints
· Storage & Databases: Storage Accounts, Backup Vaults, Managed Instances, SQL Servers, Cosmos DB
· Application Services: App Services, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Function Apps
· Identity & Security: Azure AD, Domain Services, Action Rules, Prometheus Rule Groups, Grafana Dashboards, Action Groups, Alerts, Web Tests
· Advanced Services: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) – configuration, provisioning, scaling, and troubleshooting
· Infrastructure Automation
· Working knowledge in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation
· Familiarity with Azure DevOps and infrastructure pipelines
· Monitoring & Observability
· Strong experience with Azure Monitor and alert tuning
· Proactive troubleshooting and performance optimization
· Security & Compliance
· Monitor and manage application secret expirations
· Apply OS patches to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance (e.g., GDPR)
· VM & OS Management
· Manage VM performance (CPU, memory, file system)
· Troubleshoot network connectivity issues
· Implement and schedule OS patching using cloud-native tools
· Configure OS settings (DHCP, DNS, RDP)
· Manage backup and recovery using Azure-native tools
· Vendor Coordination
· Liaise with vendors for escalations and support to resolve critical issues
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
· Experience: Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud services in technical support or engineering role
· Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
· Skills: Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, observability, and security best practices
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
