A Day in the life
The Engineering Manager position leads engineers across levels of diverse groups of people who
are moving towards realizing Tesseract’s vision. They set the direction for the team, partner with
the product, business, and other stakeholders to realize their vision. The teams work on a spectrum
of products and platforms which power Tesseract’s Mixed Reality Ecosystem. They lead the way for
the teams to evangelize various ideas, provide technical leadership, and facilitate platform station
of the systems across the ecosystem. EMs partner with product teams on key business metrics in
their areas, lead the way for innovative solutions to complex and challenging domain problems and
drive agility in execution by leading by example. They build a
team culture, drive accountability and responsiveness, provide mentorship and career development
for the team, and are inspirations for adopting agile methodologies by removing impediments along
the way with the big picture in mind.
Roles And Responsibilities
• As Software Engineering Manager you will manage and oversee the design and development
of software applications.
• Direct the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around software development.
• You will manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
• Accountable for the overall delivery for the product / application - ensuring quality of code
and adherence to committed timelines.
• Define and track team tasks and quality metrics.
• Work as a member of an Agile Software Development Team to help implement new
functionality based on business requirements.
• Create clear career paths for team members to help them grow with regular and deep
mentoring, attract and retain top talent keeping long term goals in mind
• Drive agility in execution, create a strong team culture of responsiveness by leading by
example and own decision making around prioritization for better predictability
Qualifications
• B.E or B.Tech or any other similar qualification with at least 6+ years of experience in
building cutting edge products with 3+ years in people management
• Lead a team for 5+ people as Engineering Manager.
• We are looking for self-motivated individuals who have most or many of the
following experiences:
o 4+ plus years of relevant work experience in full-stack or application developer
o Experience on building cloud service in MEAN/MERN stack using microservices.
o Strong communication skills to interact with Agile team members
• Certified Scrum Master and Agile Development Experience.
• Good understanding of technology and architecture in a highly scalable and available
setup
• Strong experience handling workflows and scheduling, building pluggable
frameworks and systems, strong abstraction, and design skills.
• Proven track record of delivering products with high quality, familiarity with multiple
software development practices and tools
• Strong partnership with product and business teams that demonstrates effective
collaboration and communication across multiple stakeholder
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced and high pressure environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent liaison, relationship skills (to collaborate with and support
technology/business partners)
