About InfluenceMap

InfluenceMap is a globally recognized nonprofit think tank driving change on climate and sustainability. We produce cutting-edge, objective research on how businesses and finance impact the climate crisis, working collaboratively across the corporate, finance, public, civil society, and media sectors.

InfluenceMap is best known for its LobbyMap platform, which analyzes corporate advocacy and policy engagement activities related to climate change and nature. Our work has been featured in the media globally, used by hundreds of investors, and informed numerous climate campaigns. Other workstreams include the FinanceMap platform, which assesses the climate credentials of the financial sector, and the Carbon Majors platform, which tracks emissions from the world’s largest polluters. With offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Sao Paulo, and Brussels, we are a team of 75 professionals shaping the climate and nature agendas worldwide.

About the Role

We are seeking an India Engagement Manager, based in Delhi, to accelerate our growing engagement work across the country. This is our first hire in India. It is a chance to help shape how corporate climate advocacy is understood and addressed there.

The role begins with learning. You will build a deep understanding of our content, our platform methodologies, and our existing India research. You will then spend time with our UK-based team, including a visit of around two weeks, to understand where we are with our networks, engagements, and plans for India. From there, you will build on this foundation. You will deepen relationships in the country and bring our research to the stakeholders who can act on it.

At present, we have several country and sector analysts based in the UK working on our India program. Our existing research sits on our India platform (india.influencemap.org), from which content reaches stakeholders across the corporate, finance, policy, and civil society sectors. You will be the first member of what we expect to become a thriving InfluenceMap presence in India.

Key Responsibilities

Learning and Onboarding

  • Build a deep understanding of our content, our platform methodologies, and our existing India research
  • Spend time with our UK-based team, including a visit of around two weeks, to understand our current networks, engagements, and plans for India

Partner and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage relationships with key partners across India, including civil society organizations, companies, investors, trade associations, and policymakers
  • Place particular emphasis on the network of civil society organizations focused on corporate sustainability
  • Coordinate engagements with companies, financial institutions, and policy actors to advance climate and nature accountability in India
  • Represent InfluenceMap at regional events, convenings, and in discussions with senior stakeholders

Research and Content

  • Learn and apply InfluenceMap’s platform methodologies to support the team and provide regional context to our work and messaging
  • Work with our global and India teams to produce relevant content for media, investors, and other stakeholders in the region
  • Monitor developments across India’s climate, energy, and broader sustainability landscape, and help ensure our outputs stay relevant and timely

Working with the Team

  • Collaborate closely with the analysts working on our India program
  • Work across time zones with our global teams and regional programs
  • Share regional insight to support our wider work
  • As our presence grows, there may be scope to help build and shape the India team

Requirements
  • Climate and energy experience: around 3 to 4 years working on climate or energy issues in India, in a context that involved engaging with corporations, civil society organizations, finance, trade associations, or policymakers
  • Civil society networks: familiarity with India’s civil society landscape, with an emphasis on organizations focused on corporate sustainability, and ideally established contacts within these networks
  • Stakeholder engagement: a track record of building and managing relationships across some combination of companies, civil society, finance, trade associations, and policy actors
  • Climate and energy policy knowledge: good familiarity with India’s climate and energy policy environment, including key institutions, policy processes, and current developments
  • Analytical capability: understanding research methodologies and engaging with data-driven analysis
  • Communication skills: the ability to translate complex issues and data into clear narratives for different audiences
  • Language: Fluent Hindi and strong written and spoken English for global collaboration
  • A plus: experience supporting or coordinating others, though this is not required
  • Right to work in India

Benefits
  • Employment type: full-time position based in India
  • Location: Delhi-based, with flexible and remote working options available
  • Salary: starting ₹15,00,000 base salary per annum (plus mandatory statutory bonus), depending on experience and qualifications

  • Annual leave: statutory paid leave plus an extra three paid days with organization-wide closure at year’s end
  • Work structure: Delhi-based, with frequent in-person engagement with partners and stakeholders in Delhi
  • Team: frequent collaboration with a dynamic, global, mission-driven team of 75 professionals
