Fitter Carpet

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain all carpeted areas onboard, ensuring repairs, replacements, and installations are completed to company standards across guest and crew cabins, corridors, and public spaces.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to approved carpet defect reports and work orders, prioritising tasks to minimise disruption to guests and onboard operations.
• Prepare work areas safely by securing the space, protecting surrounding furnishings and fixtures, and ensuring all work is carried out with minimal noise, dust, and obstruction.
• Operate and care for tools, cutting equipment, adhesives, and materials in line with manufacturer instructions and company safety procedures.
• Keep all workshops, storage areas, and job sites clean, organised, and free from hazards, ensuring materials and tools are stored correctly after use.
• Work closely with the reporting officer and Senior Technical Storekeeper to monitor stock levels, request replenishment, and ensure availability of carpet, underlay, adhesives, and associated materials.
• Accurately record daily completed work, time spent, and materials used, ensuring timely and precise updates into the AMOS maintenance system or other designated reporting tools.
• Support planned maintenance and refurbishment projects by preparing areas, removing and disposing of old materials in line with environmental guidelines, and installing new carpet to specification.
• Communicate professionally with guests and teammates at all times, maintaining a neat appearance and providing clear, courteous updates when work impacts occupied areas.
• Follow all Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) and Public Health standards, and participate in required safety drills and training as directed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience as a Carpet Fitter or in a similar flooring or maintenance role, ideally in a hospitality, marine, or large facility environment.
• Proficient in carpet installation, repair, stretching, and seam work, with the ability to deliver high-quality finishes in both guest and crew areas.
• Good understanding of safe use of hand tools, cutting equipment, adhesives, and related materials, with a strong focus on workplace safety.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in a shipboard environment that may involve motion and varying schedules.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high presentation standards across all carpeted areas.
• Well-organized, with the ability to plan work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Experience using AMOS or similar maintenance or work-order systems is an advantage.
• Good command of the English language, both verbal and written, with the ability to follow technical instructions and complete clear maintenance records.
• Collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with technical, hotel, and stores teams.
• Demonstrates a professional, guest-focused attitude, cultural awareness, and the ability to build positive working relationships in a diverse, multicultural environment.
