Engineering Manager II (Full stack-Angular/react with backend)

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking  Engineering Manager II to lead two highly impactful and innovative teams — VUMap and Labeling as a Service (LaaS) — at HERE. This role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a strong grasp of modern web technologies including 3D visualization.

As a Manager, you'll drive technical execution and team development for platforms responsible for automated labeling workflows and next-gen 3D rendering capabilities for spatial data visualization. You'll partner with architects, product managers, and engineers to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that help build and maintain the world’s most intelligent maps.

• Technical & Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor full-stack and platform engineers across both VUMap and LaaS teams.

  • Drive development of interactive front-end applications and powerful backend services.

  • Cultivate innovation and engineering excellence, especially in visualization and automation.

• Project & Product Execution

  • Oversee delivery of tools for labeling, enrichment, transformation, and visualization of spatial data.

  • Lead technical initiatives around 3D rendering, UI performance, and responsive design.

  • Promote modern engineering practices (TDD, CI/CD, DevOps) and Agile methodologies.

• Architecture & Collaboration

  • Collaborate on architectural decisions for rendering pipelines and platform APIs.

  • Partner with Product and UX teams to shape intuitive, interactive experiences using JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, React, and Three.js.

• Team Growth & Strategy

  • Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent with skills in full-stack and visualization technologies.

  • Define engineering roadmaps aligned with business goals and platform scalability.

• 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role.

• Hands-on background in:

  • JavaScript, TypeScript

  • Angular and/or React

  • Backend development with Java, Spring, and Microservices

  • Cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Passionate about creating rich, performant user experiences and rendering solutions.

• Familiarity with 3D rendering technologies and frameworks (Three.js, WebGL) or a strong willingness to lead projects in this space.

• Excellent communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.

• Hands-on experience or strong interest in 3D rendering, Three.js, or spatial data visualization.

• Experience building tools for internal developer platforms or automated workflows.

• Exposure to NestJS, Next.js, or other modern JS ecosystems.

• Background in machine learning pipelines or data labeling automation.

• Experience with high-availability, distributed systems.
