We would like you to join our team as a DBA on our Data Platform Team based out of Mumbai.
The Data Platform Team at Boku is a small team with big responsibilities, at the heart of all the action. As such, we are responsible for not just the production and Dev/QA/Test environments, but also the flow of data, the monitoring of data, and its various auxiliary data repositories (transactional data set, data warehouse, etc.). We are looking for someone who can not only get their hands dirty fixing operational issues, but who can also think about the big picture and identify the ramifications of decisions made in one area upon the entire data platform.
Your responsibilities in this role are:
- Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
- Ensure optimal performance, security, and high availability of large, Terabyte-sized databases
- Manage critical production environment replication systems
- Identify and resolve critical production issues with active/active multi-datacenter OLTP environment
- Ensure 99.999% uptime of database technologies, including identifying areas for improvement to meet the SLA
- Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary
- Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize performance issues, such as queries or processes
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders on database architecture and performance
- Participate in 24/7 DBA team on-call rotation for production databases
- Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, etc.
- Deploy schema changes to production databases
- Work on the team to build and introduce systems, tools, policies and procedures that raise company productivity
About you:
- 5 years DBA experience
- 3+ years of production MySQL database administration (v5.5+) in a live-traffic, large replicated database environment
- Experience with managing database environments in AWS, GCP or similar cloud provider (e.g. RHEL on EC2, EBS, Redshift, RDS, S3, etc.)
- Production support experience in an environment with 24/7 uptime
- Strong understanding of MySQL architecture and management, and InnoDB storage engine
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving, with excellent attention to detail
Great to have:
- Experience with Continuent Tungsten or similar replication/clustering technology
- Experience with AWS Redshift, RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL
- Experience with database migration between different technologies such as native MySQL, RDS, Aurora, etc.
- Experience with emerging/alternative technologies (in-memory databases, distributed event technologies such as Kafka, etc.)
