The Database Engineer will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of databases. You will be part of a Team who supports a range of Applications and databases. You should be well versed in database administration which includes installation, performance tuning and troubleshooting. A strong candidate will be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are scalable, while managing multiple customer groups.
What You will do

  • Execute and translate into operational excellence the database architecture roadmaps and specific plans to implement them

  • Performance and scalability goals

  • High availability and disaster recovery goals

  • Database version upgrades

  • Patch testing and deployment

  • Proactive database capacity planning

  • Usage of new database features

  • Data security and protection

  • Functionality, stress, and load testing

  • Participate in production on-call rotation (one week at a time of 7x24 on-call support) 

  • Execute major database migrations with minimal system downtime

  • Ensure database standards are followed and implemented

  • Database health monitoring

  • Technical Documentation

  • Review procedures

  • Proactively monitor production database systems, analyze findings, formulate recommendations etc.

What experience you need

  • BS or Associate's Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent job experience required

  • 5+ years’ experience as a SQL Server development and production support DBA 

  • Experience in SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning

  • Experience with Windows required including PowerShell Scripting. Experience with Linux servers is good to have.

  • Knowledge of DB Tools/Utilities (e.g., Toad, Enterprise Manager, SQL Developer, Export/Import etc.)

  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to plan work to meet project deadlines, accommodate demands by users, set priorities, organize information and escalate issues appropriately

  • Customer service-oriented, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to understand new technologies quickly are essential

  • A strong commitment to performance. Professionalism at all times

  • Ability to speak to technical groups about designs and implementation
