The Data Migration Engineer in Professional Services is responsible for data analysis, cleanup recommendations, migration script development, and migration execution during the implementation of Mitratech’s suite of products. A core focus of this role is migrating data from multiple varied client source systems into Mitratech’s semi-structured target platform, where each engagement requires a tailored, customer-specific approach driven by a unique data mapping document. The Data Migration Engineer collaborates closely with Business Consultants and clients to build those mapping documents and then translates them into PL/SQL transformation and load scripts. The role demands a strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset—diagnosing data quality issues, resolving mapping conflicts, and navigating complex, one-off migration scenarios. The individual is also responsible for documentation and continuous refinement of migration processes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Primarily responsible for data migrations from multiple varied client source systems into Mitratech’s semi-structured target platform, authoring customer-specific PL/SQL transformation and load scripts driven by unique per-customer mapping documents
  • Works mainly on database layer of the application. Responsibilities also include technical requirements review, PL/SQL script development, and post-migration validation against the approved mapping document
  • Partners with Business Consultants, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to actively build and refine source-to-target mapping documents, then uses those documents as the authoritative source for writing corresponding data importing scripts
  • Collaborates in data design and mapping sessions with Business Consultants and clients; meets regularly with the project team to provide task updates and proactively troubleshoots data inconsistencies, source-system anomalies, and mapping gaps
  • When required, assists with building script libraries, documenting processes, and internal resource training and administration
  • Script execution and go-live activities, including active troubleshooting and problem-solving of data migration issues encountered during test and production runs
  • Data analysis, evaluation, and cleanup
  • Any other tasks that from time to time may be assigned to the role

Technical Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL development—including complex stored procedures, window functions, and dynamic SQL—with strong working knowledge of SQL Server (required)
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Administering Oracle (version 12c and 19c) and SQL Server (version 2012, 2016, 2018+) databases including export/import, logging, archiving (required)
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and building source-to-target data mapping documents and authoring unique, customer-specific PL/SQL migration and transformation scripts per project based on those documents (required)
  • Basic knowledge and hands-on experience of HTML, XML, JavaScript, and VBScript
  • Working experience in Software Development methodologies like Waterfall Software Development Life Cycle and Agile
  • Experience with GitHub or similar version control platforms for code repository management and migration script sharing
  • Experience in working in Windows and Linux environments
  • Potential for project-specific travel (up to 10%)

Personal Skills:
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously without compromising quality of work
  • Must be able to independently prioritize workload and work accordingly to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and follow up skills - both verbal and written
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented in order to align with team practices and standards
  • Good team player with ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Ability and willingness to train others in use relevant tools and technology
  • Customer facing skills with the ability to communicate at all levels including internal and external Management teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical and solutions oriented

Desired Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of database encryption practices is a plus
  • Basic knowledge and hands-on experience in object oriented programming – C#, .NET, Java and J2EE technologies
  • Experience with Web Services (SOAP and RESTful)
  • Experience in technical documentation writing (e.g. data dictionaries, architectural diagrams, etc.)
  • Client-facing experience leading data requirement sessions
  • Experience creating, defining, streamlining, and documenting processes
