Job Description:

Joining our Russell Investments Global Finance Department means you will be a part of a passionate and supportive team that believes what we do matters to our clients and investors We rely on a meticulous financial operation to drive business forward. In this role, you will support the Global Accounting team by reviewing and approving a variety of journal entries and account reconciliations, providing analytic review of financial statement accounts, ensuring transactions are accounted for properly in the general ledger and subledger(s), assisting with finance projects as they occur, and assisting with internal and external audit requests. You will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.

A key component of the Global Accounting team is continued focus on analyzing all functions for process improvement, service enhancement, quality, and efficiency. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and will have the ability to adapt to a transforming work environment while continuing to provide performance management to a team, and manage multiple requests with competing deadlines. This candidate will need to be detail-oriented, work quickly and efficiently, as well as conduct business in a professional and organized manner.  
 

Responsibilities 

  • Guide the billing team and ensure accurate billing across various business and fee types 

  • Ensure accuracy of AUM data used in billing; identify and establish data and accounting controls relevant to team processes 

  • Lead and drive projects including transition of processes in a planned manner 

  • Set up / guide the setting up of billing and revenue recognition for new areas of business in close partnerships with respective business, partnering business at various nodes and exceptions impacting billing or revenue recognition 

  • Coordinate closely with other accounting streams to ensure an end-to-end process accuracy and excellence 

  • Establish, track and improvise process KPIs 

  • Ensure timely cash application, outstandings review and collections 

  • Support internal and external auditors, through documentary support / relevant workings. 
     

Functional Skills

  • Strong Understanding of Asset Based Fees, various fund fees and complex fee structures 

  • Working knowledge of Fund / Investment structures, Fund categories including private market funds, Separately Managed Accounts 

  • Ability to interpret complex fee agreements 

  • Understanding of Revenue recognition principles, relevant corporate policies drafted as per US GAAP and experience in its applications 

  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, Familiarity with multi-currency transactions  

  • Proficient understanding of US GAAP, IFRS a plus 
     

Systems 

  • Hands on experience of Report Billing systems (or similar) including client and account set ups, and billing calculation logics 

  • Excellent skills on Ms Excel, BI / Database querying skills would be an added advantage  

Management Skills 

  • Ability to allocate and manage deliverables from a team of 4-6 members 

  • Proven expertise on managing high performance teams as well as ensuring high levels of motivation 

  • Strong Project planning and management skills 

  • Excellent and proactive communications and expectation management skills 

 
Qualifications and Experience
 

  • 4-8 years of relevant industry experience with at least two years’ experience of team management 

  • CA / Inter CA / Accounting graduate; Specialized qualifications in investment industry would be an added advantage.
