About this Role

BlackRock is seeking a highly motivated Mobility & Employment Tax professional to join its global Employment Tax team.

This is a global advisory role supporting BlackRock's cross-border workforce programs, employment tax risk management, global compensation reporting governance and strategic Mobility & Employment Tax initiatives. The role is positioned for an experienced professional who can provide technical judgment, manage complex stakeholder discussions and support practical, risk-balanced outcomes across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will partner closely with stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Compensation, Corporate Tax, Finance, Legal & Compliance and external advisors to provide employment tax advice, manage escalations, strengthen governance and support a scalable global operating model for BlackRock's Mobility & Employment Tax programs.

Key Responsibilities

Mobility & Employment Tax Advisory

  • Provide advisory support on international assignments, permanent transfers, business traveler compliance, remote working arrangements and other cross-border workforce matters.

  • Assess employment tax, payroll withholding, reporting and social security implications arising from workforce mobility, business initiatives and regulatory developments.

  • Advise on the employment tax implications of equity compensation and stock incentive programs, including RSUs, stock options, ESPPs and cross-border vesting events.

  • Review complex cross-border scenarios and recommend practical, risk-balanced solutions for business and employee stakeholders.

Strategic Projects & Transformation

  • Lead and support regional and global Mobility & Employment Tax initiatives focused on process improvement, automation, governance and operational efficiency.

  • Drive strategic projects relating to workforce mobility, employee taxation, regulatory developments and business transformation initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development of scalable operating models, controls and governance frameworks across Mobility & Employment Tax programs.

Stakeholder Management & Escalations

  • Act as an escalation point for complex Mobility & Employment Tax matters, partnering with internal stakeholders and external advisors to evaluate risks and recommend solutions.

  • Provide technical review and challenge of advisor recommendations, payroll positions and employee communications.

  • Build strong partnerships across HR, Payroll, Compensation, Corporate Tax, Finance, Legal & Compliance and business stakeholders globally.

Benefits, Compensation & Policy Initiatives

  • Provide employment tax input on new employee benefits, compensation programs, payroll changes and policy initiatives.

  • Support implementation of new benefits and compensation offerings, ensuring appropriate consideration of employment tax, payroll and reporting implications.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential impacts on employees, policies and programs.

Business Traveller & Cross-Border Workforce Programs

  • Support global business traveller and cross-border workforce programs by advising on employment tax, payroll and reporting obligations arising from business travel and remote working arrangements.

  • Partner with stakeholders to design practical and compliant solutions for evolving workforce models.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen governance, controls and risk management across cross-border workforce programs.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Develop and enhance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), governance frameworks and operational guidance to support consistent and scalable Mobility & Employment Tax processes.

  • Drive standardization and documentation of key processes, controls and risk mitigation practices across jurisdictions.

  • Partner with stakeholders to strengthen governance, improve controls and ensure audit readiness across Mobility & Employment Tax programs.

Global Compensation Review & Reporting Governance

  • Provide review and oversight of global compensation reporting processes, including equity compensation and stock incentive plans such as RSUs, stock options, ESPPs, deferred compensation arrangements and bonus programs.

  • Review employment tax, payroll withholding and reporting implications of compensation and equity programs across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Manage stakeholder escalations relating to compensation reporting, stock plan taxation and employee tax reporting requirements.

  • Support governance and technical review of year-end reporting processes, payroll instructions and global compensation reporting obligations.

  • Partner with Compensation, Payroll, HR and external advisors to resolve technical issues, strengthen controls and drive reporting consistency globally.

Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10+ years of relevant experience in Employment Tax, Global Mobility Tax, Individual Tax or related advisory/compliance functions. Prior experience within a Big Four firm and/or a multinational organization preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge of employment tax, payroll withholding, compensation reporting, social security and individual tax compliance requirements across India and APAC jurisdictions.

  • Experience advising on cross-border workforce matters, including international assignments, business travelers, remote working arrangements and permanent transfers.

  • Knowledge of equity compensation plans, including RSUs, stock options, ESPPs and related cross-border tax implications.

  • Proven ability to assess tax risks, interpret complex legislation and provide practical, commercially balanced solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering across HR, Payroll, Compensation, Finance, Legal and external advisors.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment and manage competing priorities.
