About the Team
The Content Strategy team sits at the intersection of content, consumer insights, and business strategy for JioHotstar’s streaming platform. The team is responsible for decoding audience behaviour at scale and translating that into sharp, data-backed content decisions.
This function works closely with qualitative and quantitative research teams, leveraging a mix of primary research, platform data, and market intelligence to understand what audiences watch, why they watch, and how consumption is evolving. These insights directly inform content commissioning, release strategies, and long-term platform positioning.
The team operates as a central decision-making layer, partnering with content, marketing, and business leaders to ensure that every content bet is grounded in audience understanding, platform performance, and growth potential.
About the Role
This is a leadership role within Content Strategy, focused on building a strong, insight-led approach to content planning and decision-making.
The role will anchor audience understanding across the platform — bringing together qualitative research, quantitative analytics, and platform data to shape content strategy, release planning, and portfolio decisions. It will oversee research inputs (both qual and quant), and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations for content and business teams.
You will be responsible for:
Defining how audience insights inform content strategy across genres, formats, and cohorts
Translating platform metrics (reach, time spent, retention, cohort behaviour) into content decisions
Leading greenlighting and content investment recommendations through a data-backed lens
Identifying growth opportunities through underserved audiences and content white spaces
Building frameworks for release strategy, cadence planning, and content performance evaluation
Driving alignment across content, marketing, and business teams to ensure strategy translates into execution
This role requires someone who can move seamlessly between data and storytelling — comfortable working with research, analytics, and platform metrics, while also shaping strategic narratives that influence senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the end‑to‑end content slate vision, shaping genre, format, and audience strategies that fuel sustained platform growth.
- Design and execute high-impact release strategies, optimizing premiere windows, drop cadences, and platform rhythms based on audience behaviour, competitive trends, and demand signals.
- Build and scale long‑term franchises and repeatable IP, creating consistent, high‑engagement tentpoles that strengthen platform loyalty.
- Lead greenlighting recommendations and content investment decisions, balancing creative ambition with ROI, audience insight, and portfolio health.
- Deeply analyze Indian audience segments, across both JioStar’s existing user ecosystem and broader streaming consumers, to tailor content decisions that maximize reach, retention, and engagement.
- Identify market white spaces and underserved cohorts, shaping content strategies that unlock new growth and competitive differentiation.
- Strengthen the platform’s editorial identity, using distinct content choices to reinforce positioning and build brand affinity.
- Establish clear SOPs, frameworks, and principles for release planning, including day‑and‑date strategies, cadence design, and localization approaches to expand content appeal.
- Partner closely with marketing, production, and content teams to ensure seamless content delivery, strong promotional alignment, and flawless execution of major releases.
- Track and interpret content performance metrics, using data, audience feedback, and market insights to continuously refine strategy and enhance outcomes.
- Stay ahead of industry and consumer trends, driving innovation in release models and experimentation that differentiates the platform in a dynamic, competitive landscape.

The candidate will need to have exemplary communication skills (both written and verbal) to drive strategic content recommendations with other leaders and earn trust with colleagues across the business.
Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements.
Basic Qualifications
15 years of relevant experience in the entertainment industry of audience and programming analysis, OTT/television content and trend research, or data and consumer insights
Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to manipulate and analyse data
Proven analytical and quantitative skills with a passion and aptitude for analysis
Demonstrated ability to generate ideas and independently solve problems with a logical, data-driven approach
Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Economics or similar
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant experience in the entertainment industry of audience and programming analysis, OTT/television content and trend research, or data and consumer insights
Excellent business judgment and an ability to think strategically and help build execution plans
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across business teams to deliver business results, experience in project management across multiple teams in an organization
Ability to prioritize and multi-task across multiple workstreams
Strong bias for action and sense of urgency; the ability to make things happen quickly
