Vice President, Application Engineer | Senior Engineer II

About this role

We are seeking a Team Lead, Software Engineering to lead a Gateway engineering team based in Gurgaon within the Client Experience Platform (CXP) organization. This is a hands‑on leadership role combining strong technical ownership, people leadership, and delivery accountability, with close collaboration across global teams.

The Gateway platform is a critical client‑facing entry point to Aladdin, enabling secure access across web, mobile, and API channels. The Team Lead is responsible for local execution, system health, and team effectiveness, while contributing directly to architecture and production code.

Key Responsibilities

• Own technical execution and system health for Gateway services delivered by the Gurgaon team
• Design and build backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs
• Remain hands‑on through coding, design reviews, and architectural decision‑making
• Ensure reliability, performance, security, observability, and production readiness
• Lead and coach Gurgaon‑based engineers, supporting growth and promotion readiness
• Partner with Product, UX, Operations, and Platform teams across India, EMEA, and the US
• Collaborate with peer engineering leads to align standards, patterns, and integrations
• Champion adoption of AI‑powered engineering tools (GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Speckit, Playwright) to improve velocity and quality

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful architectures
• Strong fundamentals in object‑oriented design, distributed systems, and enterprise integration
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases (SQL Server or MySQL), schema design, and performance tuning
• Demonstrated experience leading engineers or acting as a senior technical lead
• Strong coding skills with a desire to stay close to the technology
• Clear communicator, comfortable working in a global, cross‑time‑zone environment

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud‑native environments
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry
• Interest in AI‑assisted development, prompt engineering, or agentic tooling
• Background in institutional client platforms or large‑scale enterprise systems
