Underwriter, Finance & Risk - India (Remote)
Position Overview
This is an opportunity for an early-career professional to make a direct impact on how pricing and risk are understood, managed, and communicated within a modern health plan. As an Underwriter on XO Health's Finance & Risk team, you will work closely with colleagues across analytics, actuarial, product, and commercial functions to support the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle. From modeling employer group quotes to evaluating stop-loss strategies, you will help ensure our pricing and risk frameworks are data-driven, sustainable, and aligned with our mission. This role is ideal for someone with strong quantitative skills who is ready to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do
- Support pricing of employer group coverage and value-based provider risk arrangements
- Build and maintain underwriting models for quoting, renewal, and rate-setting
- Assist in the evaluation of actuarial values (AVs), performance guarantees, and stop-loss terms
- Prepare financial data and summaries to support RFP responses and prospect conversations
- Analyze high-cost claimants, utilization trends, and cost drivers to inform pricing assumptions
- Collaborate with stop-loss carriers and internal stakeholders to align on risk strategy and structure
- Contribute to the documentation of pricing processes, underwriting guidelines, and playbooks
- Deliver clear summaries and a rationale behind pricing recommendations to internal teams
What You Bring
- 2–5 years of experience in healthcare underwriting, or actuarial support
- Strong analytical and modeling skills, with proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with healthcare claims data
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams with attention to detail
- A mission-aligned mindset and a desire to help fix what’s broken in healthcare
