Howard is looking for a motivated and detail-driven Tax Preparer to support our tax team across a diverse client portfolio.
This role plays a key part in keeping engagements organized, timelines on track, and tax records accurate. The ideal candidate enjoys managing processes, coordinating with clients, and contributing to high-quality tax deliverables.
What You’ll Do
● Prepare, update, and manage engagement letters, including tracking execution and maintaining status records.
● Coordinate client information requests by managing calendars, monitoring due dates, and following up when information is outstanding.
● Maintain engagement checklists to ensure all agreed-upon services are delivered accurately and on time.
● Roll forward prior-year tax returns and organize required documentation for current-year filings.
● Ensure all necessary information is received before tax preparation begins.
● Maintain tax basis fixed asset schedules and support depreciation tracking.
● Update tax basis balance sheets and supporting schedules used in tax compliance.
What We’re Looking For
● Education or experience in accounting, finance, or tax.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
● High attention to detail and a proactive approach to follow-ups.
● Comfortable communicating with clients and internal team members.
● Proficiency in Excel; experience with tax software or engagement management tools is a plus.
