Holtec International seeks qualified applicants for technical experts’ position in its Structural Department with the Company’s Corporate Engineering Division (CED) located at the Company’s KPS Technology Campus in Camden, NJ. This department is the company’s center of excellence in the field of structural mechanics and finite element analysis (FEA), supporting a number of Holtec subsidiaries including SMR, LLC which is engaged in designing Holtec’s flagship small nuclear reactor. ANSYS, LS-DYNA, SAP2000 and ETABS are amongst the most widely used codes in this department. Specialists in this department are engaged in performing stress analysis and strength qualification of various structures, systems and components in nuclear and solar power plants. The analyst would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced concrete, modular steel-concrete composite, and soil-subgrade supported structures. In addition to Camden, structural engineers are also located in Pune (India), Madrid (Spain) and Bristol (UK) with whom the candidate will collaborate on different projects. If assigned to work in the SMR-300 program, the analyst will support engineering and licensing requirements, leading to the licensing and construction of the first SMR-300 plant. Similar positions are also open at the Company’s Pune and Cranberry operation centers.
Minimum Technical Requirements:
- Masters in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ETABS, SAP2000 and STAAD.Pro
- In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Excellent technical writing, interpersonal and effective communication skills
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working with designers and manufacturers to develop models and drawings; knowledge of software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla and Revit
- Experience in conducting seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses
- Knowledge of geotechnical and geophysical engineering
- Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ACI, ASCE and AISC
- Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities
