What You Will Do at Ciena

As a UX Designer, you will play a key role in shaping user experiences across our product portfolio, ensuring a consistent and intuitive design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other designers, to craft visually compelling and user-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Prototyping: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and task flows based on user needs, product architecture, and technical constraints.
  • User Research & Testing: Conduct user research, usability testing, and analysis to identify pain points and opportunities for improving the user experience.
  • UX Reviews & Iteration: Conduct UX audits of existing products, identify issues, and track resolution for continuous improvement.
  • UX Strategy & Guidelines: Maintain and enhance cross-portfolio UX guidelines, ensuring a unified user experience across all products.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to balance business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility.
  • Innovation & Trend Analysis: Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive products, and emerging UX technologies to drive best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Problem-Solving & Creativity: Find creative ways to enhance usability and user engagement while aligning with business objectives.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Product Design or User Experience (UX) with a strong portfolio showcasing design projects.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability best practices, and accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.
  • Ability to conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with developers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong visual design skills, with a background in iconography, typography and motion design
  • Experience with design systems and maintaining UX consistency across multiple products.
