About the role 

Chime is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join our dynamic team in the San Francisco office. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Payroll team to prepare, analyze, and process payroll for Chime employees.  You will work closely with the People & Benefits team, execute payroll processing using Workday and ADP.  You will also oversee compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, employee inquiries and onboarding/offboarding process. 

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $92,520 and up to $128,600. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Expert knowledge of payroll methods, touch points, end-to-end processing steps, best practices, and tax filing; up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Process & analyze payrolls including validating data in payroll system (i.e., wages, deductions, time sheets, tax adjustments etc.) to identify and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Responsible for accurate year-end payroll and W-2 processing and government reporting
  • Process Semi-monthly US and Canada payroll using Workday Payroll, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Process off-cycle payments for final paychecks, and other payments.
  • validate benefit-related data audits each payroll cycle for US & Canada
  • Fund and reconcile benefit contributions such as 401(k),RRSP, FSA, HSA and commuter benefits.
  • Responsible for quarterly and annual payroll tax balancing, corrections, and investigating tax notices.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and accruals.
  • Maintain reconciliation for payroll GL accounts
  • Provide scheduled regular and ad-hoc payroll reports to various internal departments.
  • Audit and maintain payroll tax records.
  • Timely response to payroll inquiries from employees and partners.
  • Support the team for the internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, wage tax laws, segregation of duties, SOX and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll.
  • Collaborate with our people team and provide system support on process improvements and projects.

To thrive in this role, you have: 

  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including 3 years of Workday Payroll experience
  • ADP Smart Compliance experience plus
  • CPP or FPC certification preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality and data privacy
  • Cooperation and the ability to collaborate in a team, including cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
