Job summary
As a SAP ABAP/Fiori/RAP Developer at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate Technology in our enterprise applications technology team, you design, develop, and support SAP S/4HANA solutions that power key business capabilities. You partner with business and technology stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable applications, integrations, and automations. You help us strengthen engineering practices through testing and continuous delivery within an agile delivery model.
Job responsibilities
- Design SAP S/4HANA application solutions, including development, enhancement, and ongoing production support for complex ABAP components
- Develop and re-engineer highly complex application components, integrating software packages, programs, and reusable objects across multiple platforms
- Implement SAP UI5/Fiori applications, including custom extension development and configuration for user roles, catalogs, and groups
- Build automation and test utilities, including frameworks and tooling to improve quality and delivery speed
- Develop RESTful and SOAP-based API interfaces (including OData services) for SAP components to enable external consumption and support cloud deployment setups
- Collaborate with business partners and technology teams, translating requirements into robust technical designs and deliverables within an agile delivery framework
- Enable continuous integration and continuous delivery by contributing to DevOps practices and relevant Solution Manager components, and by creating working prototypes using wireframe tools and design thinking methods
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including object-oriented ABAP, ABAP Core Data Services, performance tuning, and RICEF (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms)
- Experience with SAP HANA data modeling and development tools, including HANA Studio and ABAP Development Tools
- Knowledge of SAP HANA development approaches and data access patterns, including ADBC, Native SQL, database procedures, and text search
- Experience building and consuming SAP data and reporting capabilities, including ALV on HANA and HANA Live model consumption
- Experience designing and developing applications that consume OData services and building RESTful APIs using OData services
- Experience working in agile project environments, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations and SAP Build
- Experience designing and implementing automated unit testing frameworks using ABAP Unit and ABAP Double
- Experience across implementation, upgrade, maintenance, and post-production support projects
- Working knowledge of Solution Manager components such as BPCA, ChaRM, and Focus Build, and experience developing SAP Fiori applications using the RAP model
