Job Purpose
Reporting to the Associate Director, AI & Translation Solutions, the Senior Translation Technology Specialist will drive the integration of AI and other translation technologies into the workflow, operationalizing the use of machine translation (MT), large language models (LLMs), and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. This role will focus on the technical aspects of translation operations, including data management and document processing, ensuring the efficient and high-quality delivery of multilingual content.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution of AI-powered translation workflows, including project creation and source file, focusing on operational efficiency and quality assurance.
- Influence cross-functional teams to adopt and optimize translation technology best practices, working in tandem with linguists, project managers, and production teams.
- Own translation technology assets such as translation memories, ensuring they are optimized and up to date.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director on the research and development of AI solutions, providing technical expertise in prompt engineering and AI applications in translation.
- Support vendor management by providing technical guidance and helping manage relationships with external language service providers and technology vendors, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Analyze and improve machine translation (MT) and AI translation outputs, offering insights and recommendations to continually improve quality.
- Provide desktop publishing support by leveraging InDesign and other software for multilingual content formatting and quality control.
- Mentor team members on new technologies and tools, driving adoption of AI and translation technology within the team.
- Ensure smooth operation of translation workflows through automation and scripting (e.g., Python) to increase operational efficiency.
- Assist Content Editors, Translators, and Linguists with Spanish editorial tasks, including reviewing translations and source materials, and maintaining Translation Memories and other translation assets.
- Monitor and assess machine/AI translation output.
- Collaborate with in-house linguists, production coordinators, project managers and other internal stakeholders to support various content delivery needs.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Job requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience in translation technology and multilingual content production
- Expertise in translation and multilingual content workflows
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence teams and guide technology adoption without direct managerial responsibilities
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to be efficient and organized while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Maintain high-quality work and thrive in a deadline-driven, high-volume production environment
- Flexibility to easily switch between tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- High degree of professionalism
- Outstanding communication skills both in writing and speaking
- Desire and ability to learn new skills, technologies, and working methods in the interest of saving time and resources
Preferred Qualifications:
- Language Proficiency: Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish or other relevant languages
- AI and Translation Technology Expertise: Hands-on experience with CAT tools, LLMs, and prompt engineering, with a focus on practical application in translation processes
- Technical Leadership: Proven experience in leading technical initiatives without direct managerial duties, influencing workflow improvements and technology adoption
- Automation Skills: Familiarity with Python or other programming languages for automating translation tasks
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors to implement and optimize translation technologies
- Enterprise Software: Proficiency with collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Slack, Smartsheet, JIRA/Confluence, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat

The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000-$115,000, however the offered salarymay be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
