We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our organization's systems infrastructure, including both Linux and Windows environments, ensuring high availability and security. Your expertise in cloud services, particularly AWS, will be vital in maintaining and scaling our systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support systems and networks that meet the needs of our growing organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Linux, Windows-based systems, and other environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, including server performance and connectivity issues.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of systems through proactive monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning.
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve system efficiency through scripting and configuration management (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform).
- Implement and manage system security policies and configurations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Design backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and system resilience.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in system engineering, cloud computing, and automation tools.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to systems engineers and IT staff.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support when needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or DevOps Engineer in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.).
- Proficiency in system scripting and automation tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, · Terraform, or similar.
- Solid understanding of system performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with different departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications (eAWS Certified SysOps Administrator).
- Experience with network and storage systems, including SAN/NAS, and knowledge of network protocols.
- Knowledge of database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Solarwinds and CloudWatch.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for most of the workday
- This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard for most of their workday
- This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for extended periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
- The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
