ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Software Center of Expertise plays a key role in SES digital transformation by delivering high quality software. The global team consists of system architects, software engineers, software architects, test & integration engineers. As part of the team, you will be the main point of contact for video platform software. You will play a key role in design, development, and validation of software. This position presents an exciting chance to expose your expertise in software and video distribution through satellites. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

• Shape and evolve the architecture of high-quality, future-resilient software solutions by collaborating across the full product lifecycle
• Co-create innovative features with product and demand teams, translating evolving business needs into scalable, modern technical designs
• Implement and safekeep the software architecture of high-quality software by actively participating in all stages of software development lifecycle
• Lead architecture discovery and refinement, working closely with cross-functional teams to align systems design with both strategic goals and operational realities
• Continuously challenge and enhance the current architecture by exploring new paradigms, technologies, and frameworks that increase agility, performance, and maintainability
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their relevance, value, and timing for adoption - acting as a tech radar for the organization
• Design and present solution proposals that balance innovation with operational feasibility, system integrity, and long-term sustainability.
• Champion engineering excellence by guiding best practices in testing, documentation, and maintainability - fostering quality at every step.
• Lead systems integration and validation efforts, collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
• Drive continuous improvement of the codebase by participating in and guiding peer code reviews, mentoring others, and promoting a culture of shared ownership.
• Diagnose and resolve complex system-level challenges, especially across domains, and recommend robust corrective and preventive actions.
• Showcase architectural outcomes through impactful demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders, translating technical results into business value.
• Mentor and empower team members, especially newcomers, to ramp up quickly, grow their expertise, and contribute meaningfully.
• Promote a strong architecture community through knowledge-sharing, architectural alignment, and open dialogue with other teams and disciplines.
• Contribute to a living system of documentation, ensuring architectural decisions, principles, and designs are transparent and traceable.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor or Master's degree in computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunication, or Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant work experience, encompassing design, developing, and testing software tailored for high-reliability systems
• Experience in satellite video distribution technologies
• Good understanding of DVB standards in particular DVB-S/S2/S2x, DVB-NIP, GSE encapsulation services, DTH, DTT
• Domain knowledge in video technologies (VOD/transcoding/compression, OTT)
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools, with a preference for Azure DevOps.
• Experience with software infrastructure hosting (K8s, Docker)
• Understanding of cloud orchestration tools, technologies, and API standards.
