We are looking for a Senior SDET to help build our test automation from the ground up. You will design the framework, write the automated tests that give us confidence to ship, and bring modern AI-assisted tooling into how we work. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who codes like a developer but is driven by quality.
You will be one of the first engineers on a new team, so the patterns you set will shape how the whole organization tests. You will work closely with the QA Engineering Manager and with developers across product squads.
In your first 90 days, the automation framework will be in place, with a proof-of-concept suite running in CI on our highest-risk flows. By six months, you'll have meaningful automated coverage of critical user journeys, a low flaky-test rate, and faster feedback on every change. Ongoing, you'll maintain a trusted, maintainable suite: applying AI tooling where it genuinely saves time, with other engineers picking up the patterns you set.
What You Will Do
- Design and build the test automation framework and the standards other engineers will follow.
- Write and maintain automated tests across the stack: API, integration, and end-to-end UI.
- Prioritize automation by risk and value, favoring fast, reliable API-level tests over brittle UI tests where possible.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD so they run automatically on every change and give fast feedback.
- Drive down flakiness and keep the suite trustworthy, so failures mean something.
- Evaluate and apply AI-assisted testing tools (test generation, self-healing tests, failure triage), and use AI and prompt engineering to accelerate test creation and edge-case discovery.
- Review AI-generated tests and code with a critical eye (you are the human-in-the-loop, not a rubber stamp).
- Mentor other engineers on automation practices and help raise testing quality across squads
What You Bring
- 5+ years in software test automation or software engineering with a strong testing focus.
- Strong coding skills in at least one of: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript.
- Deep experience with a modern automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium) including building or owning a framework, not just writing tests inside one.
- Solid API testing experience (Postman, REST Assured, or similar) and comfort with SQL and database validation.
- Hands-on experience integrating tests into CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Working knowledge of cloud (AWS) and containers (Docker).
- A pragmatic, risk-based mindset and the judgement to know what's worth automating.
- Experience using AI coding assistants or AI test-generation tools in real work (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar), with a clear view of their strengths and limits.
- Comfort writing effective prompts to generate test ideas, edge cases, and to analyze failures.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Claude and Claude Code.
- Experience setting up test automation from scratch on a team that had little automation before.
- Performance testing (k6 / JMeter) or security testing exposure.
- Experience in a regulated or high-reliability domain (utilities, fintech, healthcare, or similar.
