Senior QA Engineer Job Summary
The QA Engineer helps deliver the quality and performance of large scale, big data, multi-platform software products that includes web, API, and mobile application interfaces. Incumbents in this position are experienced, hands on and self-motivated who can work collaboratively in a continuous integration environment. This role involves working closely with software developers that includes leveraging shift-left methods to understand a complex domain and product. The QA Engineer focuses on contributing to the development of automated functional integration tests and end-to-end tests through open source test frameworks for overall system testing within an agile environment.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans for complex web, API and mobile based applications that reference database back-end systems.
- Collaborate with product team to break down stories, understand requirements, and define use cases.
- Work in an agile environment to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software
- Work with development teams to identify and resolve defects and other quality issues
- Responsible for owning the testing of a user story (including manual & automated testing) and perform in-sprint automation using Selenium Framework,
- Creates and maintains test cases both manual and automated, executes test suites, reviews and diagnose reported bugs, and ensures overall system quality prior to release.
- Designs, develops, maintains, and troubleshoots automated suites of tests through continuous integration for value added feedback.
- Collaborating with the other QA Engineers to review overnight regression test failures
- Works cross functional areas with internal engineering teams in a disciplined agile environment.
- Estimates own testing tasks and works productively with minimum supervision while showing excellent team attitude.
- Provide feedback to the product team on usability, performance, and functionality of our applications
- Advocate for high-quality development patterns, code quality, and testing
- Working with a junior team as a quality ambassador, helping the team identify necessary test coverage, test plans, test cases, and test automation.
- Represents team leadership and provides technical guidance and training to junior test personnel.
- Researching test tools, methodologies, and trends and upgrading existing practices and processes.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Four-year college degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline such as Science or Engineering.
- 8+ years of hands-on testing and automation experience for Web, API and/ Mobile
- 8+ year of experience with test processes, open source test frameworks, test design strategies, writing test cases, and automating tests in Java with frameworks like JUnit/TestNG, Selenium, Cucumber, Cypress, REST Assured, Postman, JMeter and Appium.
- 8+ years of experience working on an agile team.
- 8+ years of hands-on SQL database experience
- 5+ Hands on experience or knowledge in Amazon web services such as Simple queue services (SQS), Dynamo DB, CloudWatch, Cloud formation template (CFT), S3 and OpenSearch is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity etc. and experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Splunk etc.
- Strong experience in API testing (SOAP, RESTful services) using SoapUI, Postman, and Rest-Assured framework.
- Must have an understanding and ability to develop code in Java.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, Windows, and/or mobile devices.
- Setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks on multiple application platforms, such as Mobile, Desktop, and Web
- Researching test tools, methodologies, and trends and upgrading existing practices and processes.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure that high-quality code is delivered
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to analyze complex problems in large systems.
- Must be detail oriented, analytical and creative thinker with passion for quality and test automation.
- Candidate must flourish in a fast paced, iterative, deadline driven environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
