Job Title: Senior Product Owner - Observability Squad
Location: Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Drive the onboarding of systems onto the Observability platforms (Logging, Traces and Metrics), ensuring smooth integration and usability.
  • Automate observability processes, reducing manual effort and enabling self-service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define and deliver features that enhance system monitoring and insight generation.
  • Own and refine the product backlog, prioritizing features that maximize impact and adoption.
  • Ensure best practices in observability, logging, metrics, and tracing to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Define and own the COE Onboarding roadmap, ensuring alignment with ITSM modernisation initiatives.
  • Work with engineering teams, architects, and stakeholders to shape and prioritise technical solutions.
  • Manage a technical backlog, balancing innovation, scalability, and operational needs.
  • Advocate for best practices in automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and cloud-native development.
  • Utilise strong knowledge of software engineering methodology to ensure systems are loosely coupled, fit-for-purpose, and comply with technical requirements.
  • Apply both product and engineering expertise to balance the backlog of work between features, defects, debts, and risk to balance platform health against future flow of work and immediate customer needs.
  • Run the tooling team, taking end-to-end ownership of new products, including the roadmap, customer engagement, and the DevOps squad.
  • Drive the adoption of standards, labels, and telemetry schemas, such as OpenTelemetry and Prometheus, to ease onboarding, reduce costs, improve correlation, and speed up time to market through pre-canned dashboards.
  • Prioritise reusable pre-canned dashboards for common use cases, while enabling customers to manage their own dashboards via self-service for bespoke use cases.

Essential skills:

  • Total 14+ years of experience.A strong software engineering or development background with hands-on experience in building and deploying applications.
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, ObserveINC, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Datadog, or similar).
  • Proficiency in automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to drive self-service capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how observability integrates into cloud-native environments.
  • Strong experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of SLI/SLO, error budgets and SRE principles.
  • Ability to bridge technical and business needs, ensuring the observability platform provides tangible value.
  • Excellent engineering management and product strategy skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and guide technical teams.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.

Education Qualification:  Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
