Background
Morningstar's Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analysing the company's financial results, while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Wealth Finance Operations team supports regulated entities by managing client money flows between Client Money Accounts (CMA) and corporate accounts in strict compliance with FCA and group policies. This function plays a critical role in safeguarding client assets and maintaining accurate operational finance records.
The Role
The Senior Process Specialist will act as the technical lead within the Operational Finance team. The role involves reviewing CMA-to-corporate account transfers, performing complex reconciliations, investigating variances, and ensuring timely resolution of issues. In addition, the Senior Process Specialist will act as the first point of escalation for junior team members and will liaise with auditors, compliance, and finance leadership on operational finance matters.

Responsibilities
- Review and approve CMA-to-corporate account payment requests prepared by Process Specialists, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform and review daily reconciliations of CMA and corporate accounts, including investigating complex variances and resolving issues.
- Ensure all operational finance documentation (e.g. Zendesk tickets, payment confirmations, reconciliations) is complete and audit-ready.
- Act as first-line escalation point for queries raised by Process Specialists.
- Support preparation of audit deliverables, reconciliations, and working papers for internal and external audits.
- Liaise with Compliance, Legal, and Wealth Finance teams to ensure adherence to client money rules and FCA requirements.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and strengthening of internal controls.
- Mentor and coach Process Specialists, supporting their professional development.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 3-5 years of finance operations, treasury, or accounting experience within a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, journal entries, and CMA-to-corporate account flows.
- Familiarity with FCA client money rules and audit processes preferred.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with Zendesk, SAP, or similar financial systems is an advantage.
- Proven ability to review and oversee the work of junior staff.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
