The Senior PHP Fullstack Engineer will help re-imagine a legacy product software ecosystem, moving it from a home grown legacy architecture to a more modern design that is ready for a higher growth SaaS future.
As part of a small, agile team on a mission-critical modernization project, you will work under the guidance of a technical lead to develop the new system architecture. This role is for a collaborative developer, passionate about building high-quality software and helping to translate specialized business logic into modern, well-crafted PHP code.
Key Responsibilities- API and UI Development: Develop, test, and maintain features for a robust, scalable, and secure PHP-based RESTful API based on architectural designs. Design and implement a modern UI layer that interacts with these APIs.
- Hands-On Coding: Write clean, high-quality, and maintainable PHP code, participating in code reviews to learn from and contribute to the team's best practices.
- Problem Solving: Assist in analyzing the functionality of the legacy application to help translate its core business logic into modern code.
- Collaboration: Work closely with your lead, other engineers, and QA to build and ship features in an agile environment.
- Client Interaction: Participate in client discussions to help understand requirements and demonstrate progress on your work.
- Documentation: Contribute to clear and comprehensive technical documentation for the features and services you help build.
- Professional Experience: 3-5+ years of professional experience in a software development role. (Adjusted from 5+ years )
- PHP Proficiency: Solid programming skills in modern backend PHP. Specific experience with frameworks like Laravel is highly desired.
- LMS Familiarity: Experience with or a strong willingness to learn and work with Moodle environments.
- User Interfaces: Proficiency with React, VueJS or Angular, and the ability to build professional performant interfaces based on supplied designs.
- API Experience: Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs.
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
- Problem-Solving Aptitude: A curious mindset with an aptitude for digging into complex problems and learning new systems.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written English communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
- Server Management: Familiarity with managing a Linux server (e.g., Apache/Nginx configuration, security, package management).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and designing cloud-native applications.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Previous experience on a legacy system modernization project.
- Familiarity with building and deploying applications in a SaaS environment.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
