The Senior Database Migration Engineer will design migration plans from licensed databases to open-source databases, optimize performance, and implement CI/CD practices while ensuring data security.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Migration Engineer with strong expertise in both database administration and development across Oracle and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience migrating enterprise applications from licensed databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server to open-source engines like Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL or RDS. A minimum of 5+ years of DBA and Developer experience and a proven track record of successfully delivering 2 or more end-to-end database migration projects is required.
What you will do?
- Design and implement database migration plans from licensed databases like Oracle and MSSQL to open-source databases like Aurora PostgreSQL on AWS
- Analyze existing database architectures and define optimal migration strategies
- Convert schemas, stored procedures, functions, packages and database logic (PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL)
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution plan analysis
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and implement robust backup/recovery and HA/DR solutions
- Develop automation scripts for database operations and monitoring
- Implement CI/CD best practices for database deployments, including automated schema versioning, testing, and rollout processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document migration processes
- Assess application-level dependencies and ensure compatibility during database migration
- Implement database security best practices, including access control, auditing, and encryption in AWS
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle/PostgreSQL DBA and database developer.
- Experience with AWS database migration tools and services such as AWS DMS and SCT/Ora2Pg
- Proven delivery of 2 or more database migration projects
- Strong hands-on skills in PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, schema conversion, and performance tuning
- Experience with AWS DMS, SCT, RDS, Aurora, and related AWS services
- Strong SQL, scripting (Shell/Python), troubleshooting, and documentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
You will be preferred if:
- Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Familiarity with IAAC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation
- Familiarity with CI/CD implementation tools like Liquibase/Flyway
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect

Pre-Employment Assessment:
You will be invited to participate in a series of pre-employment evaluations to assess your technical proficiency and suitability for the role.
Managerial Interview: The hiring manager will engage with you in multiple discussions, lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, to assess your technical skills, hands-on experience, leadership potential, and communication abilities.
HR Discussion: During this 30-minute session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss the offer and next steps with a member of the HR team.
