About the role:
Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative data professional for its New Index Management team. The primary function of the team is to research, source, validate and maintain data sets to be used in development of new index products. This includes Morningstar security level reference, corporate actions, float, shares outstanding, fundamentals, balance sheet line items, Income Statement line items, and other market data for the security universes. We are looking for a person who is passionate about investing and with basic knowledge about researching, sourcing, maintaining and validating new data sets. This is a dynamic role and ability to understand new data methodologies and perform quality checks on large data sets is preferred. This position will be in Vashi, Navi Mumbai (India).
Job responsibilities:

• Have a very good understanding of market data - Total outstanding shares, float shares, liquidity measures, fundamentals data, financial ratios, and reference data.
• Ability to source new data that may be required for index construction.
• Understand new data sets and methodologies.
• Run quality checks on large datasets containing historical data and identify issues, investigate from primary source and recommend resolution.
• Have knowledge about the various stock exchanges, boards, holiday calendars etc.
• Know the treatment of different corporate actions on entity, price and shares data.
• UAT of system improvements, data validations
• Manage data as per client-specific requirements, while at the same time adhering to Morningstar's set KPIs and KRAs
• Discover and raise issues in work (including system, process, and collection methodology) and propose enhancement suggestion to further improve system functionality, process efficiency and data quality.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in economics/ finance/business, Master's degree would be an added advantage.
• 2 - 5 years' experience in the financial domain related to equity data particularly corp actions and shares/price data.
• Understanding of data methodologies, data management policies, procedures and common technical tools.
• Passion for investing and knowledge of securities markets.
• Knowledge of SQL and databases is must.
• Excellent command over Excel and other collaboration tools.
• Exposure to Python or Data analytics is a plus.
• Knowledge of equity indices. Fixed Income/Crypto knowledge a plus.
