The Role
As a market leader in PIM/MDM solutions, Pivotree implements enterprise master data platforms (Stibo STEP,
Syndigo, Akeneo, and cloud-native solutions) for Fortune 500 and mid-market clients. This is a hands-on role
bridging business requirements, technical design, and data strategy—owning discovery, requirements
documentation, data architecture, and platform configuration. You'll work as a co-equal lead alongside an
onshore BA, with full ownership of your workstreams.
You're expected to master new MDM platforms quickly, think critically about requirements, and leverage AI
tooling (GenAI, data quality automation) to accelerate work while maintaining rigor in data governance. Time
split: ~40% discovery/requirements, ~40% technical design/data work, ~20% UAT/validation/handover.

What Youll Do
● Run client workshops and translate business requirements into structured, testable user stories—using
GenAI tools to draft and iterate, then validate critically
● Flag scope risks early and recommend realistic alternatives when constraints (timeline, budget, data
quality) conflict with original asks
● Profile and audit legacy data; inventory data sources, identify quality issues, design transformations for
the target platform
● Design and implement data governance and quality rules: stewardship models, hierarchy design,
attribute governance, master data lifecycle
● Own data migrations end-to-end: approach, mapping, ETL runbooks, cutover validation, and rollback
procedures
● Maintain requirements traceability matrix (RTM) and manage scope changes through formal change
control
● Write and execute UAT test scripts; leverage AI-assisted test generation where appropriate, validate
results, manage defects to sign-off
● Demo completed features and stories; communicate technical constraints and trade-offs in business
terms
● Author system documentation and train client teams on MDM platform capabilities and governance
processes
● Facilitate stakeholder workshops; manage expectations across business, IT, data governance, and
vendor teams
● Become the team expert on the assigned MDM platform; rapidly learn and apply new features and
vendor releases
● Manage vendor escalations and adapt to Agile sprint ceremonies

Must-Have Skills
MDM & Data Experience:
● 7–10+ years in business analysis, requirements gathering, or data strategy for MDM, PIM, data
integration, or enterprise information management projects
● 4+ years implementing enterprise MDM platforms (Stibo STEP, Syndigo, Akeneo, Talend, or tier-1
equivalents). Demonstrates rapid learning of new platforms; understands MDM principles regardless of
vendor.
● Hands-on experience with core MDM concepts: hierarchies, attribute management, data quality rules,
workflows, integration patterns, and stewardship models

● Proven track record architecting and executing data migrations: legacy profiling, ETL design, mapping,
transformation logic, validation, cutover risk management
● Deep knowledge of MDM best practices: master data governance, data stewardship lifecycle, operating
model design
Technical & Analytical Skills:
● Excel mastery: mapping matrices, data profiling, pivot tables, validation rules, VLOOKUP/INDEX-
MATCH
● Ability to read and interpret SQL queries; comfortable with technical teams on data extracts and ETL
logic
● Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools for data flow diagrams and system architecture
● Experience authoring RTMs, functional specifications, and UAT scripts with clear acceptance criteria
● Comfortable using GenAI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) to draft and iterate on requirements and
documentation; critically validates AI-generated output
● Recognizes where AI-powered data quality or profiling tools improve efficiency and understands their
limitations (hallucination, data privacy)
Communication & Problem-Solving:
● Excellent written and verbal communication; explains complex data concepts and constraints to
business and technical audiences
● Executive presence and strong facilitation skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and
managing pushback
● Critical thinker: challenges faulty assumptions, recognizes anti-patterns (e.g., storing derived data as
master), advocates for governance over band-aids
● Resilient and independent: operates effectively in matrix environments without direct supervision;
comfortable working async across EST overlap hours (9 PM–12 AM India time)
● Scrum/SAFe certification or equivalent Agile fluency; familiar with Jira or Azure DevOps

Good-to-Have Skills
● Hands-on experience with 2+ MDM platforms (Stibo STEP, Syndigo, Akeneo, Talend, SAP MDG,
Informatica)
● Post-go-live support experience: run-books, troubleshooting, mentoring client teams, defining L1/2
support
● Experience designing data stewardship/governance operating models or change management programs
● Exposure to enterprise data platforms: data lakes, cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery), or MDaaS
● Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM-assisted documentation, or AI governance in data contexts
● Understanding of regulatory/audit requirements (GDPR, data lineage, consent management)
