About the role

We have a new role for Sustainability Data Foundation Engineer, based out of our Global Capability Center in Bangalore.

As part of our Responsible Business strategy, Haleon has an ambitious and broad agenda for Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), with both internal and external commitments. D&T is at the core of enabling the ESG strategy in order to drive advances in our technology and data ecosystems to ensure we capture, report and improve on all new emerging requirements in this space; whilst also looking to reduce our D&T footprint and raise understanding in this area across the D&T function.

ESG data is currently used to fulfil several regulatory reporting requirements, with future requirements increasing at speed. It is also required to support consumer facing claims, meet retailer survey requirements and provide the information required to list our products in high growth sustainable choice ranges. Future reporting requirements are driving towards an expectation that ESG data achieves the same level of risk management, governance, and controls as financial data.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing/implementing end-to-end data pipelines and create enterprise data assets. You will be working on the latest data platform technologies and a part of a high-performing team. This is extremely hands-on development role which includes developing & delivering code through from origin to production, plus working in partnership with 3rd party development service providers to help ensure that performant/quality code comes is written and in line with the overall ecosystem being established.

The Senior Data Engineer will directly contribute to the extensive and varied build and deployment activities involved in establishing the new platform then continue to work on the already significant and growing pipeline of future buildouts of platform services on the Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of the organisation's sustainability landscape incl. systems/data sources, teams and roles are involved, and how their data needs to be used to support sustainability goals - also identifying gaps and proactive identification for how to remediate.

• Hands on, sleeves up development and delivery expected as a matter of course.

• Lead the development of data pipelines on enterprise infrastructure in-line with data engineering standards and best practices (version control, automated testing, deployment, code standard/review and maintenance).

• Manage the coding and technology required for entire data lifecycle including data quality, retention, etc

• Ability to work in close partnership with groups across the IT organization (security, compliance, infrastructure, etc.), Tech product teams, Business product teams and Business stakeholders.

• Overall strong analytical skills.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

• B.E/B.TECH/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience, with preference on experience and proven track record. Ideal candidate would have an impressive hands-on work history in an advanced, recognized, and innovative environment.

• 8+ years of similar work experience with 5+ years of Data engineering experience and seasoned coder in the relevant languages: Python, Pyspark, SQL etc.

• Experience with the Azure data and analytics stack: Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (SHIR, etc), Synapse, Keyvault, LogicApp, Unity catalogue, ADLS Gen2, Azure DevOps (Pipelines, self-hosted agent) GITHUB, etc.

• 5+ years in Data Platform experience- specific to owning and enabling capabilities within an enterprise data ecosystem, including Data Management practices (Analytics/Platform)

• Data Engineering best practices to be delivered in an auditable and regulated environment.

• Fluency with Data/Platform/Reliability Engineering patterns for operational resilience & co-contribution development patterns.

• Ability to develop and optimise the Spark code for large volumes of Data.

• Production experience delivering CI/CD pipelines across Azure.

• Key knowledge of architectural patterns across code and infrastructure development.

• Fully conversant with big-data processing approaches and “schema-on-read” methodologies. Preference for deep understanding of Spark, Databricks and Delta Lake and applying them to solve data engineering problems.

• Familiar deploying enterprise analytics solutions at scale with applicable services: administration, qualification, and user access provisioning.

• Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with suppliers and specialist technology providers to assemble and maintain a distinctive and flexible mix of capabilities against future requirements.

Preferred

• Candidate possesses great communication skills and the ability to communicate inherently complicated technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders of all levels

• Knowledge of enterprise supply chain and/or ESG/Sustainability requirements.

• ·Should have know-how on working with global matrix organization.

• Experience with Agile (in a highly structured and robust reporting delivery management methodology format) delivery frameworks and tools: SAFe, Jira, Confluence, GIT Actions, delivery break down estimation, etc.

• Knowledge of Data modelling, Purview, SonarQube, BlackDuck and visualization tools (PowerBI) and their application.
