About the role
AGL has an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to join our Hydro Renewables team, based in Mount Beauty and supporting 14 hydro power stations across Victoria and New South Wales.

What you’ll be doing
As Reliability Engineer you will play a key role in developing and optimising electrical, mechanical, and civil maintenance strategies across the hydro portfolio. Your focus will be on improving asset performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively.
You will bring
Data-driven reliability expertise – using turbine performance, condition monitoring data, and failure trends to proactively improve asset reliability
Technical problem-solving capability – applying root cause analysis, FMECA, and practical, cost-effective monitoring solutions to complex engineering issues
Strategic maintenance planning experience – refining Reliability-Centred Maintenance strategies and optimising spare parts, maintenance tasks, and intervals based on asset criticality
Strong collaboration skills – working cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement and shared outcomes
Analytical and systems proficiency – using SAP, data analysis tools, and reliability systems to support reporting, planning, and decision-making
What you’ll bring
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ideally in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience applying Reliability Engineering techniques and Asset Management principles to improve performance and maintenance outcomes
Demonstrated experience leading reliability improvement initiatives and developing maintenance documentation within power generation or similar heavy industry
Experience with SAP as a CMMS is highly desirable
Familiarity with platforms such as Power BI, OSI PI, RCA, reliability, and condition monitoring software is desirable
