Job Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join the Well Completion Products (WCP) in Mumbai India. This is a product engineering role focused on the design, development, qualification, and sustaining engineering of packers, flow control tools, and downhole completion equipment across Cased Hole and Open Hole Completion applications. This role serves at the intersection of product design, drive resolution of plant and supplier non-conformances, support validation and qualification cycles, field performance and collaborate with global cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and manufacturable completion solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for the design, development, qualification, and optimization of Well Completion Products, including packers, completion tools, and downhole equipment.
  • Lead product development projects from concept through qualification, validation, commercialization, and field deployment.
  • Conduct advanced engineering calculations, simulations, stress analysis, fatigue assessments, and FEA to validate product performance under challenging downhole conditions.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to structural integrity, pressure containment, sealing performance, reliability, and failure modes.
  • Drive continuous product improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, reliability studies, failure investigations, and design optimization.
  • Lead feasibility studies, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and cost-benefit analyses for new and existing technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ISO, customer specifications, and internal engineering standards throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, and HSE teams to develop safe, manufacturable, and cost-effective product solutions.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, technical documentation, qualification reports, and change management records.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing.
  • Support field operations and customer-facing teams by providing technical expertise, troubleshooting support, and engineering recommendations.
  • Champion HSE excellence, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development
  • Extensive experience with Well Completion Products and Downhole Tools
  • Familiarity with API (11D1, 19AC, 14L, 14A) and related oil & gas standards
  • Knowledge of NACE MR0175 / sour service material requirements
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects and technical teams
  • Proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric (or equivalent 3D CAD), Windchill PLM, and engineering analysis tools
