We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 12+ years of experience (or equivalent deep Linux expertise) and a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. The role focuses on expert-level Linux platform engineering on RHEL/Rocky Linux, including lifecycle management, patching strategies, and container base image design. The candidate will lead CI/CD pipeline architecture, repository and artifact management, and drive secure, compliant software delivery practices. Additionally, the role requires strong troubleshooting, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration across global teams.
Responsibilities- Define and evolve common container base image strategy (baselines, cadence, tagging, traceability, release notes) with architecture and key consumers.
- Lead vulnerability and compliance work for base images: processes, exceptions, and prioritized fix paths.
- Own technical direction for Linux distribution enablement documentation and operational patterns (guest scope, multi-distro usage, mirrors, template-based image creation).
- Drive CI improvements for restricted environments: security, speed, observability, and fewer manual steps.
- Represent the team in cross-org forums; resolve ambiguous lifecycle/subscription questions with procurement/vendor context where appropriate.
- Coach junior engineers; review changes; standardize practices.
Must have :
- 12+ years of professional experience (or 6+ with strong Linux/platform expertise) and a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
- Deep expertise in RHEL/Rocky Linux (EL8+), including lifecycle management, patching strategies, RPM, and dnf/yum ecosystem.
- Strong experience in container image engineering (Docker/Podman), including base image strategy, tagging policies, and supply chain design.
- Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting, along with hands-on experience in CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins), pipeline architecture, and artifact management.
Good to have:
- Experience in security leadership, including CVE triage, vulnerability management, and system hardening practices.
- Knowledge of open-source compliance and working with legal/licensing workflows for distributed software.
- Exposure to repository and mirror management, subscription models, and enterprise Linux distribution strategies.
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across global teams.
