Job Title: Principal Site Reliability Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Drive the adoption of SRE principles and practices by builder and operational teams across the Group via code contribution, influencing product and service roadmaps, and ensuring that reliability is a first-class feature of the vision and strategies of the executive leadership of a BU.
- Develop robust processes aligned with strategic tooling which improves the observability of CBA's key products and services in our large-scale and complex environment, and which allows many teams across a BU to quickly identify and address reliability risks which impact our customers.
- Continually improve the operability of services owned by a BU by identifying and engineering strategic optimisations to the architecture, infrastructure, release management, and observability processes and tooling.
- Engage with operational teams across the Group to triage priority incidents, facilitate blameless postmortems, and implement strategic improvements to Group-wide culture, process, and tooling to proactively improve the management of incidents and problems.
- Support the 24x7 online environment of our critical services through participation in on-call rotation and escalation workflows.
- Influence executive stakeholders (EM+) and modify Group processes, platforms and systems to ensure that the reliability of our services is a first-class feature which our teams deliver with minimal friction.
- Obsessively look to accelerate and standardise the adoption of SRE across the Group's services, infrastructure, systems and processes by developing and supporting frameworks and tooling which teams can leverage via our innersource community.
- Be a passionate advocate for SRE principles and practices within the Group and outside of the Group, by talking at meetups, sharing learnings at brownbags, presenting to larger audiences and forums, or publishing technical blog posts.
- Continue the development of our world-class engineering team by mentoring Engineering Chapter members, BU stakeholders and executive leaders (EM+) on SRE best practices.
Essential Skills:
- 14+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
- Strong experience with modern software development practices using tools such as git for source control, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or similar; Strong public cloud experience in AWS , GCP or Azure.
- Experience leading teams of engineers driving outcomes using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics.
- Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Linux internals, networking, containers, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in applying SRE Practices in large organisations and excellent Communication and Problem-Solving skill.
- Software engineering, expert in at least one Programming language (e.g., Golang, Python)
Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
