About Team
The Product Security team at Atlassian is committed to ensuring the delivery of secure products. These teams are geographically distributed, with a presence in the USA, Australia, and India. Each team is structured uniformly to provide comprehensive product security services tailored to their respective time zones. These services include security consulting, risk identification, and mitigation consulting for all products within their purview.
Recognising the critical importance of product security as a customer necessity and a competitive edge, our team holds a pivotal position within the organisation. With Atlassian's strong engineering focus and emphasis on autonomous teams, maturing the security of this complex environment stands as our core duty. Our tasks encompass identifying potential security threats in our products, devising suitable mitigation strategies, and evaluating their effectiveness on a large scale. It is imperative to execute these responsibilities in a scalable manner, allowing us to adapt to the evolving landscape shaped by changes in our business, global dynamics, adversarial strategies, customer requirements, technological advancements, and other factors.
Overview
Do you love security architecture and uplifting security maturity of products , platforms and infrastructure? You will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to architect various security controls and translate them for engineering implementation.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership in Product organisations and provide technical leadership to identify and adopt security measures, maintain compliance and adhere to different regulatory requirements.
  • Own security architecture and provide technical guidance to multiple teams.
  • Evangelise security best practices and measure adoption of security capabilities by engineering teams through security metrics
  • Become subject matter expert in your domain and amplify your knowledge across the company
  • Promote automation and drive our security teams to equip the engineering partner teams with the latest tools, techniques and methodologies to build secure products by default.


On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • 10+ years of experience working in security
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience working in security-focused roles
  • Demonstrated experience designing software application security architecture for on-prem, hybrid and multi-cloud based systems that comply with industry best practices
  • Experience in enhancing SDLC to improve security or safety or products
  • Experience leading large-scale projects from start to finish and mentoring other security engineers
  • Adept experience providing SME knowledge and guidance to stakeholders and engineering functions


It's great if you have:

  • Experience writing software that enables security processes
  • CVE's to your name
  • Contributions to open-source security software
  • Delivered industry presentations
  • Comfortable operating in and reviewing modern cloud technologies from providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
