Role Description

The purpose of the role is to support a visible and highly proactive local HR service in India to management and staff with advice, information and practical guidance on a range of generalist HR issues including employee relations and employment legislation, recruitment and selection, policy related matters, absence management, pay and benefits and contractual issues.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Commercial Business Partner

  • Partnering with stakeholders to ensure a fantastic team environment and managing any HR questions or Employee Relations cases which might arise.

  • Partner with business heads on strategic initiatives to support growth and business transformation.

  • Provide managers with a commercial understanding of their people agenda and proactively ensure the HR function is facilitating the business in delivering their strategy and objectives.

  • Drive projects around talent planning, learning & development, and employee engagement in partnership with the Global HR team.

HR Management

  • Working with the wider HR COE teams to provide a seamless HR service and to leverage from other’s experience/knowledge. 

  • Manage Employee Relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and redundancy processes, providing advice and guidance to the business on all employee related matters ensuring best practice and legal compliance.

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge and awareness of new and existing employment legislation in India.

  • Work closely with local labor authorities to establish and implement a sound talent acquisition strategy and action plan.

  • Coordinate all Audit & Due Diligence activity in the local HR department & provide solutions for any issues or failings in HR processes.

  • Mobility - support Hiring and Project Managers, and employees with the relocation of new employees or current employees for projects.

  • Health and Safety - Provide support and education to Managers and staff towards a healthy and safe work environment.

  • Ensure that payroll processes are completed accurately and effectively executed each month.

  • Ensure that all local policies are up to date and comply with both internal and external guidelines/laws.

  • Support optimization, deployment, and adoption of Workday HRIS.

  • In addition to India, to have capacity to support the wider APAC HR team as needed.

  • Any other projects and assignments assigned and delegated from your manager from time to time.

  • Communication Skills – Communicate effectively with internal FNZ staff and external agents to ensure people related issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

  • Strong people and stakeholder management skills – able to establish relationships with leadership team, employees and other third parties to provide operational efficiencies and resolution.

  • Problem Solving/Initiative – Using your skills and knowledge to ensure correct end results are achieved for our employees in a timely manner.

  • People focus – Be aware and continually thinking about those whom your role impacts on and aiming to deliver a consistently high service.

  • Ownership and Responsibility - Demonstrates personal accountability by flagging errors to Manager and taking requisite corrective action promptly.  Escalates issues promptly and responds positively to feedback.

  • Teamwork – During downtime or quiet periods look to see where assistance can be given to other members of the team to ensure the whole team achieves their goals.

  • As in any service function, we experience busier periods i.e. month end, payroll cut-off date and statutory social benefits time frame, etc. which may require HR to pull together and potentially work flexibly as required.  Hence the ability to work well in a team environment and drive and desire to meet deadlines is essential in this role.

Experience required.

  • Experience working through ambiguity, willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

  • Experience working in a generalist role within a fast-paced environment, with a strong commercial entrepreneurial spirit.

  • The desire to be a significant contributor to the business in a fun, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Exposure to running the design, implementation and reporting of employee engagement and culture projects.

  • Strong facilitation and consultancy skills; able to consult on a range of relatively complex people issues with a proven ability to deliver against a range of conflicting demands.

  • Able to quickly establish credibility and maintains positive & productive working relationships with colleagues

  • Organised and proactive, with the drive to deliver results and manage self effectively.

  • High impact as a communicator - verbally, written and in meetings.

  • Personal drive and commitment to delivery of results, through others where necessary.

  • Capable of working to deadlines and adapting to changing conditions, ability to generate effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.

  • Effectively plan ahead, making sensible balanced decisions in a deadline driven environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of employment law issues and the ability to apply these to a variety of situations using a pragmatic and common-sense approach.

  • Global/multinational work experience as typically someone can navigate complex, matrixed organisations.
