Compliance Associate
The Compliance Advisor assists with broader planning of business unit compliance programs in order to ensure organization functions are in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies and to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper business practices within the organization. Working independently under general supervision, this job assists team members with identifying, investigating, and reporting compliance risks.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Supports compliance risk assessments to identify compliance issues, concerns, and deficiencies.
- Assists with investigations in response to complaints and/or potential violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Supports organization and implementation of compliance audits.
- Assists with the design and implementation of corrective action plans to resolve problematic compliance issues and to ensure that compliance deficiencies are corrected.
- Drafts reports on the results of compliance and ethics initiatives of the business unit.
- Maintains documentation of compliance activities to provide a record of issues, and to ensure easy accessibility and retrieval of documents.
- Assists with the implementation of preventative measures and compliance processes, while contributing to the revision of policies and procedures to improve the general operation of business unit compliance programs as needed.

Position Summary: Describe below the primary purpose and function of this job
This position is responsible for supporting and assisting Compliance for Europe & APAC regions. This role shall oversee compliance with internal policies, monitoring remediation actions and ensuring timely closures.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
- Provide second line monitoring and oversight on the business covering cross-border travel activities, assisting when required in the development and maintenance of compliance policies/procedures and guidance related to marketing and distribution of Nuveen products and services in Europe, Middle East & APAC including the assessment of Reverse Solicitation fact patterns.
- Provide second line monitoring and oversight on the other topics within the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan for the regulated entities assurance and that is approved by the regulated Boards and ERCC.
- Assist in the creation, enhancement and completion of required Cross Border monitoring including the production of metrics for governance and reporting purposes. Follow up on any matters identified including remediation actions are taken forward.
- Support the Europe & APAC Ethics team with regards reviewing PA Dealing, GBME, OBA and other items as well as perform monitoring to review for any potential violations of rules, regulations, applicable policies and procedures.
- Assist the team with the design and implementation of corrective action plans to resolve problematic compliance issues and to ensure that any regulatory deficiencies are addressed.
- Support and manage the production of Governance reports (Boards, Delegated Committees, Group reporting) on the results of compliance Testing, Monitoring and Ethics metrics and violations for a legal/regulated entity and at a consolidated Group level.

Functional Knowledge Required
- Experience in a financial services firm in a Risk or Compliance function; Asset Management Compliance
- Prior experience in personal account dealing. Review of gifts, business meals and entertainment and OBA
- Experience of cross border regulatory requirements is highly desirable
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel / PowerPoint/ pivot tables)
